Trump's Second Term

The Atlantic first reported Trump’s decision to appoint himself as chairman of the Kennedy Center. During his first term, he didn’t attend a single annual gala event at center – a tradition US presidents have long partaken in. Trump had a prickly relationship with the center after artists protested against his administration and threatened to boycott events at the White House.

Now, it seems, Trump wants back in. Capping off his Truth Social post, he wrote: “THE BEST IS YET TO COME!”

The amount of time Trump actually spends on this board will rapidly approach zero. Maybe one night as DJ and his greatest hits starting with YMCA.

Executive Order: Protecting Second Amendment Rights

The order is to review everything the Biden administration did with regards to "ongoing infringements of the Second Amendment rights of our citizens." One particularly concerning part:
Executive Order said:
[The Attorney General shall review] agencies’ plans, orders, and actions regarding the so-called “enhanced regulatory enforcement policy” pertaining to firearms and/or Federal firearms licensees.

I am impressed at the thoroughness with which Donnie is pursuing every grudge he holds. If only he could bring that attention to detail to the rest of his life.

As of the close of the day on Friday 7 February, my positive/negative score on the current administration stands at -82.

7 February 2025

+1: Executive Order: Addressing Egregious Actions of The Republic of South Africa
0: Executive Order: Establishment of The White House Faith Office (0 for "Too soon to tell")
-1: Executive Order: Protecting Second Amendment Rights (-1 due to my bias in favour of gun control)
-1: US Dept Transportation orders states to kill implementation of National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program
-1: Trump moves to fire chair of the Federal Elections Commission without following due process
-1: Trump says if DOGE didn't collect private data on Americans, someone else would! [17]
-1: Trump stops former President Joe Biden's daily intelligence briefings (-1 for petty vindictiveness)
-1: Trump says he is firing members of the board of trustees for the Kennedy Center and naming himself chairman

Footnotes

17. REPORTER: "So to be clear, you’re fine with DOGE collecting Americans’ private financial data?"
TRUMP: "Look, if DOGE didn’t do it, somebody else would. That’s the way it works, folks."

What you didn't mention is the today's (Right track)-(Wrong track) value of -13.6 is actually a significant improvement over the last days of the Biden administration, where that number in individual polls was in the -27 to -54 range. Which means overall that while Americans currently think the government is pulling the country in the wrong direction, Trump's not doing as badly as Biden was.

The CFPB's primary mission was to investigate deceptive and predatory lending practices. Luring people into unsustainable debt and foreclosure had previously been lucrative. This bureau has been a Republican target ever since its creation.
I have it on good authority that the CFPB's primary mission was to go after anyone whose political opinions were different from those of Elizabeth Warren.

And that changes my point... how?
It shows how mildly you described what is actually a massive injury.
(quote from Macchiavelli)
Famously, Macchiavelli was an awful diplomat, being expelled from the city the one time he tried it, and never held the reins of power. It could be held that he knew ◊◊◊◊ all about how to rule.

I think +1 for south Africa is wrong. Although potentially the government could expropriate land (from anyone, not just Afrikaners), it has not done so, and the circumstances in which it can do so are very limited. So at best this should be 0. More correctly should be -1 as Trump implies actions have occurred when they haven't. The other part of the order is South Africa bringing the case against Netanyahu to the ICC. Scoring this is political, and not factual. It depends entirely whether you believe that it is wrong that Netanyahu be potentially tried for criminal acts, or if Israeli prime ministers should only be subject to Israeli law, (to which he has immunity as I understand (like the POTUS) whilst he remains in office). I'd suggest since this is purely political this should be scored a zero. If you believe acting against the ICC was wrong then this should be -1.

I am again reminded of the tweet "Elon Musk sounds like a genius until he talks about a topic you understand."
I'm always suspicious of the critical thinking abilities of people who have to wait until such a person goes into their area of expertise to realise the scammer's a scammer. I copped long before Twitter etc. that Musk was up to no good, he's a scam artist with too many tics and tells to be actually good at it.

Avian flu gets there first. It's already here, and spreading. But don't worry, the CDC isn't allowed to talk about it now, that would spoil the surprise when we get it.
TB will be the real winner, it's already made a huge comeback in Kansas City, Kansas.

Remember this is the person who before his political career had videos made of movies with the boring bits cut out.
