NY Times says a federal judge has temporarily blocked Trump’s executive order to end automatic citizenship to babies born on American soil.

Federal District Court judge, John C. Coughenour, sided at least for the moment with four states that sued. “This is a blatantly unconstitutional order"

"Frankly," he continued, challenging Trump administration lawyers, “I have difficulty understanding how a member of the bar would state unequivocally that this is a constitutional order. It just boggles my mind."

He's a Reagan appointed judge.

Trump wants to end birthright citizenship for Native Americans.

The Justice Department then goes on to cite the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which predates the 14th Amendment by two years. The Justice Department attorneys specifically cite a section of the act that notes that “all persons born in the United States and not subject to any foreign power, excluding Indians not taxed, are hereby declared to be citizens of the United States.”

Without doing all the work to get the exact numbers, China would probably have at least 300 Congresspeople. Add in 2 votes for senators. So whatever the exact number is, it would certainly be more than half, meaning that whoever won China would win the election.

Good question! Since the number is not based on population but on number of congressional districts, in theory they might only get 3 votes, like the District of Columbia. But more likely they would have to add some seats to the House of Representatives, if they want to give China any kind of standing against other big states like Texas or California, or just do some massive reapportioning which probably would be objected to by other states. ;)

(Edited, cause I did not realize 435 is set in stone for now) Since the apportionment is not necessarily population based, it does not have to be a big number--it could be as low as 3.

Good grief, I had forgotten about Susan Collins and her memetic "concerned" reactions to trump's antics the first time around. Currently she's concerned about Hegseth's nomination.
 
There is a report that the CIA has cancelled any participation in Black History Month or Women's History Month programs. Also, all employees who were involved in DEI must be fired rather than re-assigned.

Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed

One of my high school friends works in the Census Bureau. This morning a bunch of his co-workers who had been "hired under DEI directives" were abruptly put on paid leave, pending a decision about whether they could keep their jobs. He was not happy about having so many competent people yanked out of his office.
