Trump's Second Term

IIRC when Denali was originally renamed, it was after a petition by the state of Alaska to do so had sat idle at the federal Board on Geographic Names for 40 years.
I mean, it was renamed as Mt McKinley and had been known as Denali long before. But yeah, the fact that the state had already officially called it Denali since 1975 makes this a pretty ◊◊◊◊◊◊ interference in state business.

I'm glad I'm not watching the catastrophe unfold, it would nauseate me... I'll just keep watching the puppy and kitten videos streaming on Meids Touch...PUPPIES & KITTENS!

I ususally have a beer just before 7 p.m. and then tune into the BBC news at 7.
Might kick off early with a slug of scotch tonight instead. Eeeek.

I don't think Alaska is going to go along with that. I think most residents there know it as Denali.

I'm actually pleasantly shocked by this: I would have expected him to rename it after himself.
I think he's making sure that if anything gets named after him there's no possiblility of it being changed to something else.

He's setting a president precedent.

He's promising a new golden age, an age where all the gold flows to him and his billionaire cronies.

He's already managed to exceed my worst expectations. I was certain his ravings about invasions was just grandstanding and distractions, now I'm not so sure.

War with the USA (or, heck, just guerilla warfare against the USA) was not on my 2025 bingo card. Maybe Panama, Canada, and Denmark could hire some advisors from the Taliban and the Viet Cong?

Look America firmly voted for higher grocery prices after all, enhancing corporate profits at the expense of the common people is what he is supposed to do, its what average Americans want.

I didn't care for the ban either, what I do care about is the fact that TikTok is now controlled by MAGA.

Also, Denali isn't a white person name, so you know MAGA will celebrate renaming the mountain back to a white person's name.
No TikTok is still controlled by the CCP. They are only pretending to be pro MAGA for now.

That's kind of scary to me, on two accounts. First is the implication (at least) that the assassination attempts on him were engineered by political opponents, the same sort who "tried to take my freedom" (i.e., Democrats and so forth); and second...no leader who proclaims that he was "saved by god" for a political purpose has a healthy, grounded view of his place in a democracy or a republic. I mean, that sort of thing has never had a bad outcome, right...?

(Can you imagine the right's response if Obama had ever said such a thing? They were already sneering about people regarding him as a Messiah without him ever actually coming right out like this and claiming it)
I think his words today make the idea that the assassination attempts were an inside job to enhance him a more plausible idea.

Watching the inauguration, I had two - nay, three! - laugh out loud moments:

  1. Trump's bright orange face appearing on my screen (in stark contrast to Barron looking like something ouit of the Addams Family.
  2. When Trump said he was extending US boundaries and pledged to put a US flag on Mars. :czcrazy2:
  3. Seeing that none of the bragging Brits (Braverman, Farage, et al) giving it large that they were going were allowed in! -_DOH!. Someone on X/twitter moans, they might be awful characters but how dare they treat a Brit like that...?! :ROFLMAO::LOL:
