Pray for tax cuts so you have time for being religious.

If you pray really hard, and buy lots of overpriced imports so we collect lots of tariffs, then maybe we can cut your income tax. Then you can still spend some non-working time going to church. Except did we mention the thing where you have to buy the overpriced imports to pay for it? Get back to work.

That one right there, under the guise of "freedom of religion." Actual freedom of religion would require the government to treat all approaches to the subject as inherent equals, where what the Chrisitan fundies want is to have theirs, because it's a majority, recognized and treated as the default with all others' rights only tolerated at their pleasure. Trump himself is only nominally a Christian, but, as always with him, it's more a question of zero-sum political dominance than faith.

We didn't stop telling lies to children about slavery and the slaughter of native Americans and such because of communists, we stopped because once upon a time it was considered contrary to the American character to fill our children with egregiously idiotic falsehoods.

Our leaders want to take us back to some halcyon time that never existed except in the minds of yesterday's failed fools.
