Trump's Second Term

REPORTER: Amazon will soon display a number next to the price of each product that shows how much the Trump tariffs are adding. Isn't that a perfect demonstration that it's the American consumer who is paying for these policies?

LEAVITT: This is a hostile and political act by Amazon.

She's a hostile and political act against truth and sanity.

Bessent: "I wouldn't think that we would have supply chains shocks, and I think retailers have managed their inventory in front of this."

JFC! You can't manage inventory like that, especially with perishable goods.

It's Obama's fault of course

Duffy: "I get more feedback from truck drivers who are angry that there's other truck drivers who don't speak English. Barack Obama lowered the standards so you got a slap in the wrist if you didn't speak English, where before they'd immobilize your vehicle. We're gonna go back to the pre-Obama era."

Not a Cult

Duffy: "The joy of this is to work with President Trump. To see how hard he works, the vision he has, how fearless he is ... it gives us a lot of grace."

I think its great that Amazon is doing this.

(I know Bezos gets a lot of flack for being one of the "super elite wealthy", but he occasionally does stuff like this which is beneficial. Or at least his companies do.)

Side note: Does anyone know how the tariffs they show are calculated? (Do they just do the basic "Its from country X, assume tariff Y"? Is it self reported? If its an american-sourced product but has foreign-made components that were subject to tariffs are they shown?)

Republicans... the party of "freedom" and "deregulation".

I'm curious to know what the previous requirement was for truck drivers. Did they really have to speak English to some standard, or just have to understand English road signs ect?

Also, are any truck drivers genuinely angry at other truck drivers inability to speak English (perhaps because they don't understand the chatter on CB :))? Or is their anger actually at the idea of foreign truck drivers taking their jobs, or is Duffy just making the entire claim up?

Yes. That there is a couchful of stupid. Vance wouldn't even ◊◊◊◊ it.

LEAVITT: This is a hostile and political act by Amazon.

This corrupt administration is so ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ frightened of the truth, from Donnie Diapers calling the press the enemy of the people, to his attempts to intimidate universities, to the removing African American exhibits in the Smithsonian.

I hope Amazon starts doing this ASAP.

BLITZER: A lot of farmers in your state of Oklahoma are suffering right now as a result of what President Trump is doing.

LANKFORD: No, the ag folks in my state are not suffering because of that. They're suffering because of the high inflation that they've experienced over the last several years.

Bondi on Judge Hannah Dugan: "This is a criminal judge sitting on a criminal bench."
US Attorney General Pam Bondi, 59, has a lot of 'baggage.' Some of her 'highlights' include:

  • Bondi spent 18 years as a Hillsborough County state attorney before being elected as Florida's first female attorney general in 2010. She was endorsed by Sarah Palin.
  • During her run for state attorney general she received large contributions from leading members of the Scientology group. She addressed Scientology meetings though she does not appear to be a member of the group.
  • She was an early supporter of donald trump and she spoke at the 2016 Republican convention. She joined the chant of "Lock her up!" while addressing the convention. She told the crowd, "I love that."
  • In August 2018 she co-hosted the Fox News show The Five -- simultaneously appearing on Sean Hannity's 'news' show -- while still Florida's attorney general. This was criticized as an ethical violation but Fox News claimed the Florida Commission on Ethics had approved Bondi's appearing. When asked about this the Florida Commission said they had not approved it.
  • In 2020 Bondi served as one of trump's lawyers in his first impeachment case.
  • When trump nominated Bondi to be US Attorney General he praised her time as Florida's AG. trump said she'd done "an incredible job," among other things, sharply reducing the number of deaths from fentanyl drug use. It turned out the rate of fentanyl deaths actually doubled during Bondi's eight years as Florida attorney general.
  • On 'Liberation Day,' Bondi praised trump as "the greatest president in American history."

Does that make her a DEI hire?

(lots of things Bondi did that were unethical.)
I don't even think those are the most ethically questionable things she has done.

In 2013, Bondi (as attorney general) had the opportunity to join in a lawsuit against Trump over the Trump University scandal. (Her office received several complaints about it.)

Trump then donated $25,000 to her re-election campaign.

Afterwards, she decided not to join the lawsuit.

(Side note: The donation initially came from the Trump Foundation, which was illegal since by law it was barred from making political contributions. Trump had to "re-issue" the check from his own accounts.)

Ainsley Earhardt: "He is so good at communicating. It's such a gift ... He knows about every sport. He knows about trade. He knows about the border. He's so equipped for this job, and I think he's having more fun this go round ... he is gifted."
