Trump's Second Term

Bessent on if he's concerned about empty shelves: "Not at present. We have some great retailers. I assume they preordered."
What ignorant twaddle. Perishable goods must be ordered, shipped, and delivered on a just-in-time basis. And increasingly, non-perishable goods are handled similarly because the stability, efficiency, and speed of the global supply chain has enabled JIT delivery nearly across the board. This saves on warehouse space and expense and makes goods cheaper for the consumer. That what smart retailers did.

Pres. Trump destroyed all that in just a few weeks.

I guess he missed all the empty shelves, unemployed people, and economic chaos during covid.

What are we doing tonight, Donald?
The same thing we do every night, Elon: trying to take over THE WORLD!!!

🎶They're Stinky and the Boer
Yes, Stinky and the Boer
One's a stable genius, the other's inane
They're fascists on the make
They both have hair that's fake
They're Stinky, they're Stinky and the Boer
Boer, Boer, Boer, Boer, Boer, Boer, Boer, Boer🎶

Narfzi!

What can anyone expect? Bessent doesn't know ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ dick about the economy! ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ investor and hedge fund manager, never had a real job in his life, knows nothing about day-to-day business management!

There was a video recently of Trump signing an Executive Order. It had something to do with colleges, and the presenter was attempting to explain to Trump what was in the order, to very little effect.

I never believed in the “Deep State”, but in this case there’s certainly someone or some group “behind the curtain” preparing these orders with little or no feedback or comprehension by Trump. Which I find very, very scary.
This has been the case for decades. Trump's understanding of legal process, even a rudimentary understanding, is low to nil. He just wants stuff done how he thinks it should be done and ignores reality. He is living the movie version of Vito Corleone in his head. And his head is clearly demented.

Meanwhile, it's his so-called lieutenants who are guiding his actions and thoughts, and many of them are not well-connected with reality either. It has been obvious that Trump just echoes back out loud in public whatever fantasies they whisper in his ear in private. That's why he is such a great ventriloquist dummy.

And driving them is Project 2025, a religio-fascist fanatics' dream come true.

Well, diet Coke is American. And nutraseet is still cheap. Trump and RFK Jr just eat fried chicken. Nothing perishable that is not washed with bleach and frozen first.

I've said it many times before: There will be no free and fair elections in the U.S. in '26 and '28, and maybe never. They either will not take place at all (probably due to a "national emergency"), or they will be rigged.
I disagree. Free and fair elections will be held in Blue and some Purple states in 2026. Then if the wrong people win they won't be seated in the House or Senate and the governors threatened with arrest.
You are correct about 2028 and beyond.

Well, Trump only just learned what "groceries" are. It's a different world, where he lives. And unfortunately the rest of us will go hungry long before he has to.
Well, he heard somewhere that grocery is a thing that is a mixed bag.
Soo good for some (maga and his cronies) and bad for others (the rest of the US population)

Any day now, Trump is going to something worse than we could imagine. He has to. There is no way to normalcy. There is no way back.
I agree, he has to stay as the main story every day and has to keep ramping things up to keep it going.

Well, he signed the not at all martial law EO today, so how's he gonna top that tomorrow?

Just to give a bit more context to the "Christian" part of the Republican Agenda, -

Rev. William Barber arrested in Capitol Rotunda after praying against Republican-led budget (RNS) — While arrests of protesters at the Capitol is not unusual, the response to Barber’s prayer was unusually dramatic: After issuing verbal warnings, dozens of officers expelled everyone in the Rotunda — including credentialed press.

In defense of the ejection part of that -

Reached for comment, a Capitol police spokesperson said Barber and two others were charged with “crowding, obstructing and incommoding,” explaining demonstrations in congressional buildings are “not allowed in any form, to include but not limited to sitting, kneeling, group praying, singing, chanting, etc.”

The spokesperson also said the Rotunda is “not a dedicated press area unless it’s for a pre-approved event.”

To add more context to that, though -

The police response to the group’s actions on Monday contrasted sharply with another worship service in the same space in March 2023, when far-right musician and activist Sean Feucht led an evening worship service that included participation from lawmakers such as Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.). Unlike Barber’s prayer service, Feucht’s took place in the evening after most people had left the Capitol, and whether or not it was sanctioned is unclear: Feucht has claimed to have “snuck in” to the Rotunda to hold worship on multiple occasions, but Capitol Police declined to specify whether the specific incident was permitted.

However, Feucht’s event was significantly longer than Barber’s brief prayer session, and while police occasionally spoke with participants, no one was arrested.

Right wingers don't like the part of Christianity that actually follows the more caring of New Testament teachings.

Republicans have always been very concerned about improper usage of the Capitol building.
