Trump's Second Term

Trump had meetings with both Zelenskyy and Netanyahu at the White House today and neither was opened to TV cameras.
 
The US delegation walked out of a UN Security Council meeting on Monday, in protest at comments made by France that compared Washington's voting on human rights to that of authoritarian states.

The diplomatic row was initially sparked last week, when the US joined North Korea and Russia in voting against extending Volker Turk's term as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

US ambassador Dan Negrea said the delegation would continue to make similar protests until France "renounces their condescending and disrespectful rhetoric".

The presumption that Trump has the good of the US in mind at all is highly suspect. Tariffs being paid by other countries is a narrative that he's unlikely to stop pushing, either way, regardless of whether he actually believes it. It's not and never has been pushed because it's true, regardless.

In another direction, how taxes are applied and how the revenue is used matters notably more than "higher" or "lower." Dramatically higher taxes on higher income brackets with the revenue invested in the people and country would be massively beneficial all around. Lower taxes on those who would qualify for the higher tax brackets is inevitably harmful. In contrast, higher taxes on those who already have little disposable income is pretty harmful. This is the kind of distinction that "they" tend to refuse to make and that makes me distinctly hesitant to agree that "they" are right in this case. Them being right in this case is only correct on a very superficial level, after all.

Plus Trump was holding the bipartisan housing bill hostage specifically to force passage of the Save Us Act, but it automatically became law a couple weeks ago because he ignored it for so long.
