Possibly, but on a diesel it's sometimes possible just to enrich the mixture. Diesels can smoke plenty without additional gadgets, and to some extent without additional fiddling. I had a VW Rabbit long ago that laid down a big black cloud when accelerating. It was just the nature of the beast.

I'm sure laws vary, but in Vermont it's illegal to add smoke-inducing devices like adding fuel to the exhaust manifold - which is more a trick for gas cars than diesels. But my guess from observation is that if you're so inclined, a Dodge Ram truck with a Cummins diesel is not hard to make as black and dirty as the driver's soul.

I love that every time they talk ◊◊◊◊ about Mamdani it's while Mamdani is doing something genuinely good with\for the people of NYC. It's the absolute best PR for Mamdani.

"LOOK AT THIS EVIL SOCIALIST, COMMUNIST! OUT THERE! WITH THE PEOPLE! BEING AMONG THEM AND ENJOYING HIMSELF! IS THIS THE WORLD YOU WANT TO SEE FOR YOUR CHILDREN?!?!?!"

Jumping into a pool in a suit on the first day of pools was started by Bloomberg who did it every year of his Mayorship, then passed on by the next two mayors.

This would have been a nothingburger but the New York Post had a complete fit about it, saying it violated pool dress codes. :rolleyes:

NYC likes colorful mayors. The tradition goes back at least to Boss Tweed. And if
a mayor isn't natively eccentric (in a likable way), he can always fall back on traditions
like getting all wet with his drip-dry on.

If you could be Mayor For a Month, what would you do to live up to the rôle?
