The Maratha Empire became the British Raj. Which made the British monarch an emperor or empress. Its incorrect to call India an empire during ww2 since they were a subject nation

Its also, quite frankly silly to assume the war wouldve gone well for the Allies had the Japanese just attacked them AND the US became neutral (which is very unlikely, since they werent even before entering the war), but really thats a subject for another thread.

The comparison with 1942 wasn't based, I think, on any assumption that Trump was right (that his so-called 'ally' was joining in to fight a war he had already won) but rather he was hubristically wrong.
