Trump's Second Term

Homan fits right in.

In an undercover operation last year, the FBI recorded Tom Homan, now the White House border czar, accepting $50,000 in cash after indicating he could help the agents — who were posing as business executives — win government contracts in a second Trump administration, according to multiple people familiar with the probe and internal documents reviewed by MSNBC.

The FBI and the Justice Department planned to wait to see whether Homan would deliver on his alleged promise once he became the nation’s top immigration official. But the case indefinitely stalled soon after Donald Trump became president again in January, according to six sources familiar with the matter. In recent weeks, Trump appointees officially closed the investigation, after FBI Director Kash Patel requested a status update on the case, two of the people said.

It’s unclear what reasons FBI and Justice Department officials gave for shutting down the investigation. But a Trump Justice Department appointee called the case a “deep state” probe in early 2025 and no further investigative steps were taken, the sources say.

Remember when America knew it wasn't Soviet Russia because it had stuff like a free press? <shrug>
I don't know if the trumpkins even care about such distinctions. Take the far-right hatred of Islam. When you listen to their reasons, aren't they always things the far-right themselves are also doing? They claim they hate Islam because in their eyes it's all about oppression of women and LGBTQ people, no freedom of speech or religion, strict religious codes, and wanton acts of terror and violence.

To them, the important part is not whether or not oppression happens, but whether or not it's them doing the oppressing.

"...we're going to make sure these funds are not being used to promote communist ideology." Stephen Miller

Yeah, that's been a big problem in public schools all across the United States. The promotion of communist ideology.

Yeah, let's go with the anti-constitution ideology instead.

Do I even have to put "sarcasm" at the end of that?

In my opinion, I don't think he knows what the "communist ideology" really is, unless it includes the fat clown being bend over buddies with pouty Putin.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!! Now, I'm never going to be able to wipe that image off my brain!

But as always, your mileage may vary of course.

Many discussions I've had with Americans, either expats in Europe or when visiting in the US) have left me baffled by their ignorance on the subject (but not as baffled as by the 3 or 4 gentlemen who were sincerely persuaded that Ausfahrt was a city in either Switzerland, Germany or Austria …)

lol. Fond memories of a folk high school class trip where our bus passed many signs pointing to "Ausfahrt" until one of my schoolmates asked, "how many times are we going to drive past that sign?".

Clearly Ausfahrt has to be the biggest city in Germany. You can drive for hours on the Autobahn and still not be passed it.

I just luuuuurve all the pearl clutching from some Merkinanaians over Trump's second state visit.

Chucky and Starmer showed him some shiny baubles (real gold'n'everything!), gave him a decent meal (no burgers and, as I pointed out earlier, some obvious digs at The Donald in the menu), probably had a hot equery wipe his arse and The Donald clapped his little hands in glee...

And yet it was you lot who voted this berk into office, not once, but twice...

Appeasement? You keep using that word, but...

That is pretty much what we do as humans - we quickly "renormalise" ourselves to our current environment, keep our heads down and continue to live our lives.
And I am sure people in Germany in the 1930's had this attitude towar Hitler, and it did not work out wele.
THis, frankly, is an excuse for cowardice.

Well, as an american I am baffled by the ignorance about the US displayed by a number of Europeans, so it evens out.

Oh BS. This is on the the USA, the rest of the world has to deal with the mess the idiots who voted for Trump and the people who sat at home because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Harris created. Or do you really expect the rest of the world to take the hit because your country can't do anything to restrain the senile egomaniac in the White House?

I enjoy reading their perspective.

I always like looking at things from someone else's, and besides, aren't we all ignorant in many things.

I myself am totally ignorant of how string theory can prove 19 (or whatever the number is) different dimensions exist outside of ours!

Not to derail this awesome thread, but WTF is that all about?!
