WASHINGTON, July 23 (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi told President Donald Trump in May that his name appeared in Justice Department files related to financier Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in prison, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing senior administration officials.

Secret memo reportedly reveals Trump doesn't actually care about the border

This isn't some new revelation, of course, but yet another piece of evidence to that effect is -

A newly uncovered memo from the Department of Homeland Security reportedly reveals that President Donald Trump is diverting manpower from securing U.S. borders and ports to help him achieve his goals of mass deportation.

HuffPost reported on Tuesday that the memo shows that roughly 2,000 officers and agents have been diverted to provide more manpower for deportation operations. By doing so, the administration makes it easier for traffickers to smuggle illicit materials, such as fentanyl, through ports of entry.


Gil Kerlikowske, who headed up U.S. Customs and Border Protection under former President Barack Obama, told the outlet, “The ports of entry―that’s where the fentanyl comes in.” He added, “If you’ve taken 800 agents off of the ports of entry, that can cause a significant problem.”


Data from 2018 to 2024 showed that most of those apprehended for smuggling fentanyl into the U.S. did so through lawful ports of entry. About 4 in 5 apprehended smugglers through the U.S.-Mexico border were U.S. citizens as well. This stands in contrast to Republican leaders who have blamed this problem on migrants.

Presidents generally don't, that much. Obama said "We will find Bin Laden and we will kill him," we weren't going to try him, or ircarcerate him. I'm sure there are many Trump posts where he accuses people of committing crimes based on little to know evidence. The norms of tradition don't apply to him. I believe most presidents divest themselves of their businesses; I don't think Trump ever did. It turned out he didn't have to.

Barack Obama went to great and nefarious lengths to try to thwart the will of the people and sabotage his successor – President Trump.

It's one of the greatest political scandals in American history.

The truth is that President Trump never had anything to do with Russia, and the Russia collusion hoax was a massive fraud from the beginning.

Obama knew this and so did all the other corrupt officials involved in this scam, including former CIA Director John Brennan, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and so many others.

President Trump was right from the beginning about all of this, and we’re grateful that justice can finally be served.

As too the latter because it would be futile. If they go after Trump on this that's just proof they are scared Trump is going to expose them.

Yes, it is going to hurt drug seizures and I'm not sure Trump gives a rat's ass about it. As far as I can tell China and Mexico killed off much of the customer base with nonexistent quality control. It was total Russian roulette. There is (I'm told) no more "heroin" in the United States. It's all fentanyl (not pharmaceutical fentanyl, BTW). Also mixed with a horse tranquilizer. I think using drugs became so lethal that large swaths of people died outright because the product was poorly mixed and contained "hot spots" in the fake oxycodone pills they marketed.

Everyone knew the pills were fake, "dirty thirties," or "blues," mimicking a 30 mg oxycodone tablet. At some point it was said 1 in 8 of these pils contained fatal doses. At the same time, under Biden I believe there was a move to make Suboxone and methadone more accessible. ODs have been falling steadily since 2023 and I think it's partly because their product was so dangerous it killed what would have been repeat customers. I think a lot of the GOP are fine with letting drug addicts die, anyway.

So yay, people will be able to get more stuff through ports of entry. It will take more time to cross the border. It's going to hurt truckers which will raise prices.

BTW that Daily Kos story ended with a paragraph said, basically, "Another thing has come up that will (hurt americas, enforcement, something like that0, and then did not say what that other thing was. Unless I missed it.

"It was a beautiful visit, and we concluded our Trade Deal, whereby The Philippines is going OPEN MARKET with the United States, and ZERO Tariffs. The Philippines will pay a 19% Tariff.

Can anyone tell why he's trying to say here? Almost always when he says "a country" is paying a tariff he means U.S. importers/end users will pay a tariff. Meanwhile the Philippines pays no tariff on U.S. imports. That's got to be it.

But they are partnering up with the U.S. to make missiles on a former U.S. Naval Base.
