Trump yesterday asked Georgia Secretary of State to "find" him enough votes to win the State.
In hour-long call, Trump said "There’s nothing wrong with saying, you know, um, that you’ve recalculated"
That Trump call was clearly coercion to defraud an official process by a public official, repeatedly, loud and clear. Surely to all that is holy, that is illegal in the USA?

On CSPAN-2 during the swearing in of Senators I think I can just barely hear coming from down the halls the howling of Ted Cruz and..is that..a giggle from Mitch McConnell?

Good gravy! Is he on drugs? Seriously. He is slurring his speech and stumbling over words. The repetition of words, broken sentences, awkward pauses, and burst of excitement when he has a knew thought is not typical of his speech patterns but is typical of someone under the influence.
The phone call featured Trump, days before he is set to leave office, pleading with Raffensperger to alter the vote total and launching into a barrage of discredited conspiracy theories about the election. Trump even suggested that Raffensperger may face criminal consequences should he refuse to intervene in accordance with Trump's wishes.
What I hear are excerpts of Trump going on for an hour trying to get a response he isn't getting. He resorts to threats when pleading doesn't work. Then he goes back to pleading. As he often does, he refers to himself in the third person.
Trump is getting desperate when he slips up like this, allowing himself to get caught on tape blatantly asking Raffensperger to break the law. And Raffensperger had his lawyer on the line as a witness.
Maybe Raffensperger learned from his call with Graham (who asked the same thing, could the election result be changed), that a witness wasn't enough, he needed better proof.
Waiting for Trump **** to hit the fan when he finds out the recorded call is all over the news.

He was speaking to the Georgia SecState and his counsel. He would have no reason to think they were recording him. Some commentators have made the point that Georgia is a "one-party recording" state, which means that the person making the tape doesn't have to tell anyone else.
After his record of such questionable phone calls (including, IIRC, to the Georgia governor?), only an idiot would assume that he is not being recorded. Anyone put in that situation would want that record to back them up, if necessary.
Sadly, that is precisely what I was thinking. You mean ... only Republicans can record calls? Only if they're to show some chicanery from DemonRats, surely?
I...
I don't think Trump actually crossed the line into prosecutable territory on this phone call. Like he so often does, he hints that he wants the other person to do something illegal, but he doesn't quite come out and say it, so prosecution is impossible. ....
He came right out and told Raffensperger than he's breaking the law by allowing the election fraud. I think that crossed the ******* line should anyone choose to prosecute.
