I just hope thay the republican party can reorganize itself into something more sane once this crap storm is over. I don't think a dissolution of the party does the country any good. I'm not fond of a single party system that has reduced checks and balances... not to say the current state of affairs is particularly good

I agree for the most part. But I think it is time for the GOP to ditch the Tea Party. Let them start their own party and let the GOP come back to the theme of principled conservatism. I probably won't agree with them much, but I will at least respect them. When you make a deal with the Devil, the Devil always wins in the end.

It wouldn't be a single-party system. The primaries would morph into the presidential elections, and the Democratic party would just fracture.

I'm not for a number of reasons. Maybe first among them is the absurd accusations made about the administration not changing anything when Congress pretty much prevented any. A divided government promises just more of the same.

I'm convinced that changes must be made to the tax code and the wealthy MUST contribute more. I find it hard to believe that even if the Democrats controlled both houses of Congress that they would be able to get much passed as Republican Senate that would filibuster everything.

A Trump presidency would almost certainly be a fraud. Trump's tax proposals offer NOTHING that would make the tax code mIre fair for everyday citizens. The GOP is also likely to ignore any actual substantive changes that eliminate these tax loopholes as well. The day Trump starts to care about every day Americans is the day Amy Adams and Anne Hathaway dump their husbands to move in with me. I'm not holding my breath.

How about whoever wins in the POTUS and down ticket areas... they succeed and do the country good. Thats kind of a difficult thing to be optimistic about... admittedly but i'm settled at this point that if its going to be either of the two (I'll say Clinton for the hell of it) lets just focus on healing the damn country from this sickening polarization... and for that matter if i'm going to hate the outcome either way... i'd rather hope to be proven wrong about my views of their characters than be proven right in a trainwreck.

Literally... im about settled to that... get this thing over with... and whoever it ends up being please... please... please make one of the goals getting the country running decently and heal some of the divides

Uh, no. What is it that most people are upset about? How the system is rigged against pretty much everyone who doesn't have money. How nothing gets done. That politicians promise that they ared going to do things and once they get there nothing gets done.

How about actually implementing some policies as opposed to getting to DC and doing nothing? Otherwise what's a government for?
