Trump threatening NBC?

Maybe Trump's opinion doesn't matter more than mine, but he's taken an oath to defend the Constitution and I haven't.

What I'm still not clear on is why he even denied that he wanted a tenfold increase in nukes. It's exactly the kind of thing his supporters love to hear.

Maybe it wasn't tenfold - maybe it was a hundredfold.

Nope.

You are choosing to have it matter to you. I am not. If we both choose to not let it matter to us, then his opinion weighs as much to this cohort as someone on a liberal forum we don't know.

I hereby choose to henceforth not give a **** about your opinion. All fashion of BS will now be equal to your BS.

The fact anybody cares to (attempt to) engage you in a conversation is beyond me.

Apparently, he was shown a chart that showed the decline in the nuclear stockpile since a peak of over 32,000 to the current 4,000, and he wanted the Trump administration to have a bigger peak (to compensate for his short fingers). And Tillerson was right -- *********** moron.

I'm a little surprised that Trump didn't fire Tillerson. My guess is that he didn't because that would be seen as an admission that Tillerson really did call him a *********** moron.

The President of the USA can select heads of the FCC that will crack down on news stations that offend him. He can also threaten their budget and personnel if they don't shut down CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and other non-RW media.

My guess is that he really wanted to fire him but got tremendous pressure from the day care staff. But it was exactly the kind of insult that penetrates Trump's petty, insecure core, so I'd bet that sooner or later, he will take his revenge by trying to humiliate Tillerson "ten times harder."

They can't shut down networks and have no say over cable channels. They can threaten licenses of broadcast stations.

I would pay a lot of money to see Trump take an IQ test vs Tillerson like he suggested.

I still don't understand why Trump is disputing a report that said he wanted more nukes. If it's all of a piece with the Tillerson expletive, does he have to deny both? Because otherwise, wanting more nukes sounds like something Trump would say. I don't think his hard-core supporters would have any problem with it at all.

Maybe Putin snapped the leash?

Russia loves Tillerson, might be a reason Trump didn't fire him.

All right. If people are unwilling to let his opinions matter, how do his opinions matter?

How about if, instead of asking the rest of society to succumb to your tortured definitions, you just accept that common knowledge (in this case, presidents words matter) becomes common knowledge for a reason.

... because its true

It isn't a "true" statement. It is an argument based on weight. That some amount of weight should be placed on influence to distinguish opinions is, well, an opinion.

And we can't merely accept every distinction. That is the phrase distinction without difference. Nothing objectively defines the destinctions as true differences. It is a matter of value.

Of course the President has more power than a message board poster. Hell just look back a couple of years to Obama siccing the IRS on conservative groups!

How silly to claim otherwise.

This is about opinions. That would be an action. This wasn't a debate about power.

"Should be"

Thank you.

You can make your argument that his voice shouldn't have more weight all you want. Just understand that today that is simply not reality. Trumps words can and probably will start wars. His words DO carry more weight.

I personally think the presidents words should rightfully carry far more weight than some random internet dude.
