Trump Hiring Practices

The job of White House Communications Director is open again.

Is there anyone here at the Forum who is interested in applying?

Am I alone in wanting to....

Bring Back The Mooch! Bring Back The Mooch! Bring Back the Mooch!

He'll lie like all the rest of them but he can be counted on to use foul language.

Missed another one in my first pass:

Tom Price... (Health and Human Services)

Another Trump guy who got caught using (or misusing) charter flights and military jets when regular airline flights would have worked. (What is it with Trump minions and their habit of finding the most expensive way to travel? That's 3 of them (including Mnuchin and Zinke).

He may also have financially benefitted from stocks in health care companies that were impacted by regulations that he had a hand in changing.

In many cases, they come from big business and are accustomed to living large on the company dime. In Price's case, he's a career politician. He figured somebody owed it to him.

John McEntee... (long time aide to Trump)

Fired in part because of issues surrounding his security clearance. The reason for the issues? Because he's under investigation for financial crimes.

However, it looks like he's now going to be working on Trump's re-election campaign.

longtime personal aide John McEntee was fired because he is currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for serious financial crimes, a source familiar with his firing told CNN....McEntee escorted from the White House on Monday, three sources with knowledge of the matter told CNN. Two sources said McEntee was pushed out because of issues with his security clearance.
...
the Trump campaign announced McEntee would be joining the reelection effort as a senior adviser for campaign operations.

Judging by the turnover rate and the indictment rate, Trump doesn't exactly have anything resembling "hiring practices".

Basically, he just looks for people he thinks he can turn into sycophants. He probably tries to match that up with some vague relation in the history of a prospective sycophant with some position he needs to fill.

He gets a match, bingo. That's about it.

The only possible reason why Trump would offer John McEntee a job on his campaign is to assure him that he will be taken care of.
No doubt Mueller would love to talk to him at length....

Another Trump appointee resigns in disgrace...

From: https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/03/politics/trump-dod-appointee-resigns-birther/index.html
A political appointee at the Department of Defense has resigned after a CNN KFile inquiry about controversial postings he made on Facebook....A CNN KFile review of his social media found that Johnson posted birther conspiracies about then-President Barack Obama and shared a video that claimed Obama was the Antichrist... Johnson also shared conspiracy theories about Obama's citizenship, an off-color joke about Obama dying in a plane crash and a clipping that compared people on entitlements to animals....In 2013, a friend of Johnson's commented that Obama "being a Muslim" automatically made him crazy, to which Johnson replied, "Yes sir."

Well, of course he was wrong... everyone knows Hillary is the anti-Christ.

Remember folks.... Trump hires only the best.

Here's something to consider... When comedian Kathy Griffin published her "Trump beheading" photo, the Trump base went nuts (despite the fact that Griffin was not a politician, had no political power, and was not an employee or appointee of the Democrats). Now, here we have someone who also talked about Obama's death, and he has real links to Trump both during the campaign, and during his administration.

Yet another extremely competent Trump appointment...

Dr. Oz, a formerly respected surgeon turned TV personality who has now gone off the deep end (promoting things like homeophaths, and giving a voice to anti-vaccine advocates) is being appointed to the President's council on health and fitness.

Granted it is largely ceremonial, but still, people like him should be shunned, not given a platform.

He did a wonderful impression of Joe Pesci in a Marty Scorsese Mafia movie...

What impresses me the most? Absolutely random picking of people from the general population (probably including children and infants), would on average have provided better, more ethical, more competent appointees than has Trump's selection process to date. Clearly Trump possesses the unique ability to find people with negative qualifications.

Perhaps this strong tendency to almost always make the wrong choice also explains his investment history: wouldn't Trump have made more money if he invested in an index fund rather than having made his own business decisions?

Trump seems to give as much thought to his hires as he gives to his tweets.

A couple of fine people that Trump has selected to be Ambassadors...

Peter Hoekstra (Ambassador to the Netherlands):

Once made the false claim that parts of the Netherlands had become so lawless (due to Islamic immigration) that they were now "no-go zones". A reporter brought that up, and he claimed it was "fake news". The reporter then played the clip of him actually saying it, after which he had to apologize.

Good way to start an ambassadorship.... first show you might be both racist and inaccurate, then when that exposed attack the people who brought it to attention.

Ron Gidwitz (Ambassador to Belgium)

Once was a slum lord who owned a building where basic repairs were not done (ripped screens were not replaced), and a tenant was killed after a failure to upgrade security.
