Comey should have quit when the President tried to interfere with investigation. I'm sure it was because of what he was wearing, or something, that made it his fault.

Then again, Paul Ryan seems to be admitting that Trump tried to interfere.

Ryan has obviously realized he needs to stall Trump's removal long enough to get something impeachable on Pence as well, so when they're both taken out at once he becomes President.

I am in the US Civil Service. It is so common a practice as to not be the slightest bit remarkable. When my idiot boss verbally tells me to do something asinine, I always follow with a "as we discussed yesterday, I believe doing [course of action] is ill advised. Having had a day to reflect, do you want me to proceed?" email.

It wouldn't surprise me much if a bunch of people didn't have "the goods" on Trump. This is Washington - CYA is the norm.

While I agree with your first sentence I'd be surprised there wasn't a lot to it. I think Trump is ignorant and lazy but I don't believe he is dumb. And Trump is and has always been corrupt believing the rules don't apply to him. If there is a shortcut, he's going to take it. Trump's biggest blind spot is his ego . He thinks he's smarter than everyone without bothering to put in the work.

And don't kid yourself Trump fired Comey for a reason and it had NOTHING to do with how Comey treated Hillary.

Yeah, and I would wager that reason was a combination of it making him feel powerful to be able to fire the FBI director and him being irritated with the investigation drawing on. I think he got frustrated with the endless stuff about Russia and impulsively fired Comey because he thought of it as a way to lash out at the whole Russia narrative, throw his power around, and he stupidly thought the dems would not react like this because "they don't like Comey either" and thought this would be a freebie.

But I think all of that is entirely compatible with the Russia thing being 100% BS. Because Trump isn't restrained or calm enough to think to himself "there's nothing to this, and in time that will be revealed, or at least nothing particularly devastating to me can result from this because there's nothing to it. I'll just let them spin their wheels on this as long as they want to."

Trump: Yes indeedy. He was terrible, absolutely terrible. The worst FBI director ever. I'm looking for someone to only investigate my enemies. I've got enough problems without the FBI putting their nose into my business. So what do you say?
