I think the real reason Donnie wanted to get rid of Comey is twofold. First, in Senate testimony last Thursday Comey said:

“It makes me mildly nauseous to think that we might have had some impact on the election,” he told the senators. Link

Donnie probably took that personal.

Second, yesterday former DoJ Acting Attorney General (fired by the Trumpster) spoke to Congress about the Flynn affair.

Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, speaking publicly for the first time about concerns she brought to the Trump White House on Russia, told Congress on Monday she warned that National Security Adviser Michael Flynn “essentially could be blackmailed” because he apparently had lied to his bosses about his contacts with the Russian ambassador. That sounds like it contradicts the Trumpster's original story that, like Sgt. Schultz, "I know nothing!" Donnie probably wants to move the news cycle past Yates' comments. What better way to do it than fire someone like the FBI director?

I don't think there is any real reason to believe that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is some partisan hack that would fabricate reasons for firing Comey when really he's trying to protect Trump from the Russia investigation.

And I do hope he retaliates with leaks. And that other retaliatory leaks happen after that, and etc. until we actually know what the hell these people are doing.
