Trump is extremely unpopular in the media, and they are doing their utmost to stop him. Distortion big-time.

Trump has said he makes use of tax loopholes but says he should not be able to and nor should others. Trump does not need money. He needs to achieve. That is what motivates him.

He is likely to put a stop to high frequency trading and stock manipulation. And stop off-shore tax havens. Some rich people may be thankful Trump might stop a revolution aimed at them, and he might have some quiet powerful support.
Trump is extremely unpopular among the American people. If he gets the nomination, he is going to get destroyed.

Trump wants to reduce the top tax rate to 25% (says so right on his website). It is currently 39.6%. He, like all Republicans, wants to give huge tax cuts to the rich. The exact opposite of what Bernie Sanders wants to do.

I've been hearing various rumors that Sanders supporters are stating they'll effectively throw their votes away if Clinton wins the nomination to 'punish' the Democrats for not chosing 'The Saviour'.

I'm sick of this quasi-messianic strain that has infiltrated politics of late, it blighted the Obama Presidency before it had a chance to get off the ground.

That said I hope the conservative backlash against Trump is enough to give her the win.

There were lots of die hard Hillary supporters that said the same thing in 2008. We all know how that turned out.

Speaking of that I recently learned something. Of the ~11 million illegals, half are not from Mexico. We cannot just dump them over the Mexican border. Each would have to be repatriated to the country of origin. And that repatriation isn't going to involve driving them back, because Mexico is not going to let a bus full of undocumented folks into their country. The same goes for trains. So we will need a small fleet of airplanes or fleet of boats to move 5.5 million people.
Let's do the math.
19th Century technology:
Antelope was a slave ship with more than 280 captive Africans aboard captured by the United States in 1820.
Less than 300 people per ship. That's a tall order.

20th Century technology:
The MV Wilhelm Gustloff was a German military transport ship which was sunk on 30 January 1945 by Soviet submarine S-13 in the Baltic Sea while evacuating German civilians, Nazi officials and military personnel from Gdynia (Gotenhafen) as the Red Army advanced. By one estimate,[3] 9,400 people died, which makes it the largest loss of life in a single ship sinking in history.
That's much better. So it'd take some 600 runs of a Gustloff-sized ship to deport all those illegal immigrants. Sounds like it's doable within one presidential term. :)

I am willing to say I'm very scared of Trump because he has no political experience and appears to have little or no understanding of how the federal government works. But I am not convinced he wants to do all the things on the list. I say he is just BS-ing his way to the front of the pack by telling stories that some people want to hear.
In the early 1920s, there was an Austrian and aspiring politician who dictated his policy ideas to his private secretary and published them. People back then also said they didn't believe he would want to implement them.

:)

Do I detect some bias? :)

It is not a good idea to underestimate your enemies.

BTW. I like Bernie Sanders. I think Trump and Sanders have a similar socialistic agenda, and neither is tied to big money.
...snip...

Eh? Trump IS big money (if his financial claims are true) you can't be more tied to big money than being big money yourself!

Trump is extremely unpopular in the media, and they are doing their utmost to stop him.

...snip...

The media loves Trump, he gets them eyeballs whether in printed media, internet or TV, so the idea that he is "unpopular" in the media is contrary to the acres and acres and hours and hours of coverage they have chosen to give his campaign. The reason he is so popular with the media is that they are making a fortune from him. He only become unpopular with the media when he stops making them money i.e. people stop being interested in what he has to say and what he does.

I'm willing to say Trump stands for BS.

Choose a platform he espouses. It won't stand. His argument will never stand.

Popular can be interpreted in different ways.

Trump is a money drug to the media. He makes money for them. Their message is anti-Trump. Nearly all commentators mock him and take the worst extracts. People overseas are mostly anti-Trump because they only watch snippets. I follow and watch the debates in full and/or download the transcripts.

Trump has used the media to get 2 billion dollars of free coverage.

And all that coverage has resulted in Trump being the most hated major candidate probably ever.

First his financial claims are supported by Bloomberg who rates his worth at 3.5 billion dollars. Then Trump adds his "goodwill and name brand" to that. That is why he sues media people who write books that his net worth is only $100 million.

Trump makes his money by building things and working hard. Not like bankers who siphon off money, and the military who destroy things. Trump talks like he realizes that he cannot be rich if the country is destroyed, and that he cares about America.

The other super-rich one-percenters will just change countries, and take their money with them. Oh sorry, their money is off-shore already. Yachts, island mansions, London high-rises, art-works, gold, diamonds, and Swiss bank accounts.

Are you ever going to address the fact that Trump wants to give huge tax cuts to the rich?

What you are saying is that it's a mutually satisfying relationship, both sides are happy with each other. Trump is happy for his "free" media coverage, the media are happy for the money he makes for them. Hard to see how that can be called "unpopular" for one side.

First his financial claims are supported by Bloomberg who rates his worth at 3.5 billion dollars.

A valuation of 3.5 billion dollars does not support Trump's claims of his financial worth...
Then Trump adds his "goodwill and name brand" to that. That is why he sues media people who write books that his net worth is only $100 million.

Trump makes his money by building things and working hard.

And by utilising bankruptcy and all the other instruments that "big money" like Trump have access to that the "common" woman on the street doesn't or can't use because they aren't big money.

Not like bankers who siphon off money, and the military who destroy things. Trump talks like he realizes that he cannot be rich if the country is destroyed, and that he cares about America.

Really? Than what do you call him walking away from financial responsibility by declaring one of his companies bankrupt whilst retaining millions and millions in other assets? He needs bankers, he needs all the financial shenanigans that big money has access to be successful. He is more beholden to "big money" than any other candidate because he is big money.

Do you really think he will be for changes that will affect his financial worth to a drastic extent?

A large portion of Trump's income comes from "golf resort related revenues". This includes membership sales, green fees, and the like.

Trump owns 17 golf courses, and his handicap is believed to be around 4 (which is very good for a man his age).

A quick search:

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2016/04/04/3766069/trump-tax-plan-2/
The very rich are going to be paying — well, first of all on the very rich, let me explain. We have things in the very rich that are so unfair to the general public, especially the hedge funds guys, like carried interest and different provisions, that are very complex that a lot of people wouldn’t understand. But I’m getting rid of carried interest and frankly the ones that I’m really concerned about — you know, I like the workers — I call them the workers of this country — the best. I don’t necessarily like the very rich, even though I’m one of the very rich. But the very rich are going to end up probably paying more but there’s an incentive for them to invest in the country and to create jobs.

Seems to support what I said!

A valuation of 3.5 billion dollars does not support Trump's claims of his financial worth...

An outside magazine makes an estimate. Likley to be on the low side. Did you the read the other bit which is his estimate of his "intangible" assets? Ever tried to buy or sell a company? Read the line "goodwill".

And by utilising bankruptcy and all the other instruments that "big money" like Trump have access to that the "common" woman on the street doesn't or can't use because they aren't big money.

Trump has said that he plays by the rules, but does not necessarily like some of them. Bankruptcy has it's place. Are some US cities not using it?

Trump negotiated with the bankers. He recovered. Entrepreneurs have ups and downs.

Do you really think he will be for changes that will affect his financial worth to a drastic extent?

Not if the changes say the rich must be made poor. Read my post about fascism, and look up fascism on Wikipedia. Fascism is not Communism.

But it's a very bad thing for a President to play golf. At least when Obama does it.

Many Americans think they have a "free" media. It is one of the most effective propaganda machines ever, because people do not realize the subtle control of the elite. It is not a conspiracy, just a mutual agreement to perpetuate the system where the rich get richer.

I know. I experienced blatant propaganda in the old Apartheid South Africa. Half the white population saw it for what it was, and the other half would repeat the mantras.

The Art of War is to use one's enemies weaknesses against them.

This is a popular right wing misrepresentation. The question from the panel was not about whether or not to prosecute climate change deniers. The question was whether the DoJ had considered an approach to fossil fuel similar to the Clinton administration's tackling of the the dubious claims, bad science, bald-faced lies and paid "scientific studies" of Big Tobacco. And the answer was (addressed to that specific point), "We've discussed it....".

Trump is extremely unpopular in the media, and they are doing their utmost to stop him. Distortion big-time.

I would assert that the media cannot distort Trump's message any more than a fiddle can distort the fiddler's message. Trump has played the media from day one.

But, if you actually believe there are big-time distortions of Trump's ideas, can you give a few examples?

Trump has said that he plays by the rules, but does not necessarily like some of them. Bankruptcy has it's place. Are some US cities not using it?

Yes, but none of the cities that are filing for bankruptcy are running for president.

Or more precisely, none of the cities using it are running for president on the platform of "sure, I have never held elected office, but I can save the country because I am a financial genius."

..........
Dammit, now I am stuck with the idea of Detroit running for president. That, in itself, is not a problem. The problem is I keep wondering where Detroit would fall in the polls? Above Rubio? Below Cruz?
