I thought some of you might be interested in a 3D modeling and animation package for Windows XP or Vista called trueSpace 7.6. Caligari is giving it away for some reason. It is quite sophisticated but never really caught on as a professional level tool so I think they are trying to build up a user base.
I've used it since version 2 for hobby purposes. I have no real talent but it is fun to play with. I especially like the physics simulation where the program does most of the animation work for you. Take a look at their website and the contest galleries to see what can be done with it.
If you do get it, be sure to check out the video courses. They used to sell for up to $79 each but they are all free as well.

is it compareable to programms like 3D Studio MAX,Maya or XSI?
and do you have experiance with using it together with ZBrush?

Is it easy to play with?

It will probably take some time to get used to the interface. You might want to check out the course "Getting started with trueSpace 7" before you even download the program.
There are a huge number of functions and options but a lot can be done with just a few of the tools. There are also quite a few sample scenes and object that you can play with before you get down to creating your own.

Caligari thinks it is comparable. Here is a chart from Caligari comparing it to Cinema 4D, 3DS Max, Maya and XSI. It is Caligari's marketing materials so take it with a grain of salt.
I only have a tiny bit of experience with a version of 3DS from years ago. The interface is quite different but results are comparable but the same could be said about Blender or POV-ray. I found trueSpace to be easier for modeling than 3DS was at the time. I think trueSpace is a bit weak in character animation. I can't say I've seen anything fantastic in that area. That may just be that no one is spending the time necessary to get it right as the software is not generallly used professionally or taught in schools.

I've never used ZBrush but here is the start of a youtube tutorial for exporting / importing between the two.
