I don't mean to be captain bringdown here but screencaps of anonymous posts on social media isn't exactly the sort of evidence which ought to persuade a skeptic.

Mothers of boys with gender identity disorder: a comparison of matched controls

Fifty-three percent of the mothers of boys with GID compared with only 6% of controls met the diagnosis for Borderline Personality Disorder on the Diagnostic Interview for Borderlines or had symptoms of depression on the Beck Depression Inventory. Results of the Summers and Walsh Symbiosis Scale suggested that mothers of probands had child-rearing attitudes and practices that encouraged symbiosis and discouraged the development of autonomy.

I was wondering if it's even real or not. It almost sounded to perfectly dysfunctional to not have been fabricated, but you never know these days.

It is sometimes difficult to discern what is real and what is meme.

Yeah, this kind of thing needs serious receipts.

I’m chime in and say I’m also skeptical of this. Maybe it is real, or maybe not, but this is not evidence right now. It’s too close to horrific parody. Where was it taken from and are other accounts that would usually be considered to be pro-trans praising this “parent”?

I don't know where else to put this, but I think it's funny.

GERMANY: Trans-Identified Male Charged With Stabbing Syrian National At Refugee Shelter Was Arrested After Calling Police To Report He Was Misgendered

The perpetrator fled the scene, resulting in a wide-scale manhunt conducted by the Brandenburg West Police Department. The area surrounding the shelter was closed off, and police began to search through nearby Sanssouci Park using sniffer dogs.

But just three hours after the manhunt began, the perpetrator called on the police himself to report that he had been the victim of misgendering at an Edeka supermarket in nearby Schöneberg.

I am open to the claim that the Germans have figured out a fairly effective cure for gender dysphoria in children. Avatar bet says the cure is watchful waiting.
It is regrettably not that simple. Gender Dysphoria IS potentially transient, but that does not necessarily mean "gender has become identical to genetic sex". First off, I too cannot read or understand German, but the individuals in that study were probably NOT diagnosed with "Gender Dysphoria"; on account of that being a DSM diagnosis whereas most of Europe uses ICD. A bit more on that later.

I. Gender Dysphoria refers to the psychological distress caused by a mismatch between gender (internal self-conceptualization and identification with social roles of sex) and actual biological sex characteristics. Gender Dysphoria is NOT the same as being transgendered. Some people who are transgendered do not experience gender dysphoria; there are ALSO individuals who experience gender dysphoria who are NOT transgendered. Gender Dysphoria tends to be a chronic or reoccurring condition, but there are a variety of therapies - social, psychological, pharmacological, surgical -that can reduce or eliminate the distress, depending on the individual. Were any of these implemented on the subject group? Could be wrong, but I'm guessing you don't know.

II. There are a handful of conditions that can affect the biological expression of sex characteristics. For example - Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) can result in masculine secondary sex characteristics in biological females (i.e. genetic females who possess vaginas); such as excessive facial and body hair, deep voices, or clitorises that are enlarged to the point of being penis-like. Corrective measures, sometimes including phalloplasty, can remove these. Bottom line: Yes, even a cis-gendered biological male or female can experience gender dysphoria; and some of the conditions or causes are curable. (or...perhaps I should say that the unwanted secondary sex characteristics are removable and the underlying causes are treatable)

III. Differences between ICD definitions and DSM potentially cause some issues. Gender dysphoria was first adopted officially in the DSM in...2012 or so? The concept has permeated and lnfluenced psychology all around the world. Nevertheless, the ICD maintained diagnoses of "Gender Identity Disorder" until the ICD-11 was adopted in 2022. For reference: https://icd.who.int/icd10updateplatform/PropD.aspx?prop=2272. Amongst the issues with the ICD-10 definition is that it does not take into account the increasing percentage of transgendered individuals who identify as "non-binary" rather than favoring one gender over another.

Is it possible that the study took all of these issues into account and excluded appropriate variables? Absolutely. But as mentioned previously I cannot understand German and I'm sure as **** not personally about to take the word of a random poster or an unknown blog on the matter. YMMV

Here's a hilarious example of PC gone amok from a Nicholas Kristof column in the NY Times:

For example, as a gesture to support trans kids, Oregon took money from the tight education budget to put tampons in boys’ restrooms in elementary schools — including boys’ restrooms in kindergartens.

I suppose the argument would be that you need to get the kids used to seeing them in kindergarten so they don't start asking why they suddenly popped up in the high school boy's room?

Actually that whole article is pretty good, written by a liberal with very similar views to mine.

Off topic in spoiler

I found this story really sad..

In 2022, the Portland Freedom Fund (a group set up to pay bail for people of color). helped a Black man named Mohamed Adan who had been arrested after allegedly strangling his former girlfriend, holding a gun to her head and then — in violation of a restraining order — cutting off his G.P.S. monitor and entering her building. “He told me that he would kill me,” the former girlfriend, Rachael Abraham, warned.

The Freedom Fund paid Adan’s bail, and he walked out of jail. A week later, Adan allegedly removed his G.P.S. monitor again and entered Abraham’s home. The police found Abraham’s body drenched in blood with a large knife nearby; three children were also in the house.

Adan was charged with murder — no bail this time — and the incident prompted soul-searching in Portland. But perhaps not enough. A well-meaning effort to help people of color may have cost the life of a woman of color.

Of course, it was entirely predictable that he would try again. This guy clearly should not have even been granted bail the first time.

Longtime fan of Kristof myself. Years ago I was assigned the task of debunking the NY Times' liberal columnists as part of a blogger cooperative. Krugman was pretty sloppy and then there was Slow Mo Dowd. And then I'd read Kristof and my usual response was, boring but right. At times he didn't even cooperate by being boring.

Individuals who identify as transgender but do not seek diagnosis and treatment are of some interest to this thread but of little interest to medical journals. Individuals who seek diagnosis and treatment for gender dysphoria but do not identify as transgender are of interest to medical journals but not really on topic here in this thread.

If the pharmacological interventions must be consistently kept up in order to prevent the patient from physically detransitioning towards their birth sex, then the psychiatric ICD-10 diagnosis F64 must be kept up as well so as to keep the money moving from the insurers to the doctors and pharmacies supplying the needs of the patients. This is where your appendicitis analogy fails quite spectacularly, since appendectomy is typically a one-off billing event.
