Cont: Trans Women are not Women 3

So what you are saying is that somehow the fact that transwomen actually strive to act and look like other women flew over your head?

Since there's no way women are supposed to "look and act" yes I'm very proud to say it did.

This is what I mean. You need artificial gender roles imposed on men and women for transgenderism to make sense.

I can't believe something that is dependent on bringing back the outdated idea that there are "proper" ways for men and women to act has become the new progressive hotness.

My point was when in questions of acceptance in relation to homosexuals I'm given actual things to do, actual real world behaviors modify. There's an actual point to it.

I don't really know what idea you're intending to convey here.

Because I'd say you're being asked to do exactly the same wrt transgender people as you are asked to do with homosexual people: be accepting, understanding, accommodating and non-discriminatory, in a way which respects everyone's rights (including your own); and with particular respect to transgender people: to accept that properly-diagnosed transgender people have a valid lived condition (and one which is in line with mainstream medical thinking), and to allow them to live their lives in the gender to which they have transitioned (again, with the proviso that everyone's reasonable concerns are addressed with dignity and respect).

Instead of a bunch of news stories about what she wrote, why not link to what she actually wrote and discuss that instead?

????

What she wrote is explicity referred to within those articles. Is that not easy enough for the reader to do?

Yeah, this. How about a link to her actual words that are in any way comparable to the disgusting invented tweet about homosexuality.

I'll wait...

The point is I'm being literally asked to agree with a distinction without difference. In did at this point the whole argument seems like purity test to see if I will agree with a distinction without difference just to appease a disenfranchised group.

There's more to supporting homosexuality then just mouthing "I agree with your wording."

This being called a bigot over a disagreement as to whether tomato is a fruit or a vegetable.

There is, yes. There is saying "I agree that you have an authentic lived condition in which you're sexually attracted to others of the same sex as you. And I agree that I, as everyone else, should allow you to live your life on that basis, free from discrimination or abuse regarding your sexuality or its manifestations."

QED......

This being called a bigot over a disagreement as to whether tomato is a fruit or a vegetable.

If the tomato was medically diagnosed as a fruit, and wished to live its life as a fruit on a non-discriminatory basis..... and you then told the tomato that it was a vegetable and not a fruit..... then yes, it is.

They're all there within those articles.

If you either can't or won't find them (easily) within those articles, well.... I'm not really in the habit of spoon-feeding. Sorry about that.

Well we are at an impasse then. If you continue to equate "I will accept your actions" and "I will literally rewire my brain to think of you in the way you want to be thought of" we've got little ways to go toward any type of understanding.

If "No, I can't, not won't but can't, literally think of you as specific thing even if it changes absolutely nothing about how I treat you" is bigotry, I'm guilty.

I have already explained this to you before but apparently the difference between descriptive and prescriptive definitions is really difficult to wrap your head around.

Once again: To acknowledge the objective fact that women tend to look and act in a certain way doesn't mean that one needs to acknowledge that women should look and act in a certain way. In other words, just because it's an objective fact that women tend to dress in certain manner does not mean that women should dress in a certain manner.

If someone wanted to be treated as a woman, for whatever reason, it's pretty obvious that they should try to look and act as women tend to do.

Apparently this just to complex.

I see you both your cake and have eaten it.

Not willing actually to quote in this thread any tweet or other writing by JKR that you feel equates to your disgusting invented tweet about homosexuality, then.

Noted.

Oh Jesus ******* Christ people stop playing "No you say it first! No you say it first!"

“People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?,” - June 6th, Twitter

"If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth." - June 6th, Twitter

"The idea that women like me, who’ve been empathetic to trans people for decades, feeling kinship because they’re vulnerable in the same way as women - ie, to male violence - ‘hate’ trans people because they think sex is real and has lived consequences - is a nonsense." - June 6th, Twitter

"I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so." - June 6th, Twitter

"I've never felt as shouted down, ignored, and targeted as a lesbian *within* our supposed GLBT community as I have over the past couple of years." - Shared Article from a "Anonymous Lesbian" on Twitter, June 6th.

Well, I'm only a man so anything I say can be safely ignored, but I'm not seeing anything terribly offensive there. But I'm sure someone will be along to explain why I'm wrong.
