Torin Wolf

With no posts in over four years, one would think that the Torin Wolf issue would be rather dead.

However, some crackpot on Youtube had him on a list of supposed Truthy "demo specialists" along with Danny Jowenko, Tom Sullivan & a batch of others I haven't bothered to research yet.

(Incidentally, for some time I have been indulging in the Youtube firefights and have been using the terms "Truthie" and "Truthy Cult," primarily because it annoys the True Believers no end, and it's a nice variation on "Truther")

Since Torin Wolf's self-described Army MOS was 91WM6, something I had not run across in my 21+ yrs in the Army, I dug around a bit. 91W is called Combat Medic, but this designation is now used for ANYONE in the basic enlisted medical field, whether working in a hospital or actually with troops in the field. The M6 is a skill identifier indicating that the corpsman has completed his LPN certification, either before or during his Army enlistment.

At the time of his interview he was only a PFC so I assume he had not been in Iraq long at all, but most likely had not been assigned as a "true" combat medic yet. It is possible, of course, that later on in his tour he did this and was exposed to combat, thereby qualifying for the Combat Medic Badge. If he actually was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" for valor, he'd almost certainly get the Combat Medic Badge.

However, given the degree of apparent exaggeration in his overall resume, and the rarity of first-term medic getting the BSM with a "V", I'm more than slightly skeptical. Generally, when a young soldier gets anything like the BSM-V there is at least SOME publicity in home town papers, which does not show on any Google search.

He seems to claim that he got the "V" due to "confirmed kills," which of course is not what the V is awarded for. It's strictly for valor/bravery under fire, period. Whether he just states his stuff badly or is just making it up ... who can tell? But it certainly raises the eyebrow further.

His nonsense about how the Army counts its combat casualty statistics is .... just amazingly insane.

Anyhow, he doesn't seem to have any newer stuff working on the Web, but he's still being pimped by some as a great demo professional.

I can't see anything on that page of headlines about Torin Wolf. Could you provide a link to the actual story? Cheers.

It's more than halfway down under this headline:

Ed and Elaine Brown Connection / American Freedom Radio/ Informants

Picture of him and some other guy, talking about how Wolf is an FBI informant. I just skimmed the article.
