AGAIN!That subset of predominantly males includes gang members, preppers, militia, conspiracy theorists, neo-Nazis, other far right and many whose inclination is to fight for their right to bear arms, which I think is a huge subset that is in fact many sets.
Do these Democrat gun owners object to gun control? My understanding is that for the most part they do not, they are in favour of it.25% percent of registered gun owners identify as Democrat.
That's minority, but not some small fringe group you can just write off. 1 in 4 is a sizable part of a larger demographic.
Open, vocal opposition comes from that group. There will also be a lot of opposition amongst the gangs and other criminals, who tend not to voice their opinion on the subject.
And still cars kill many people every year. More than guns, in fact.Good points. But the same can be said of cars - a glut of cheap vehicles, history and culture of owning a car, normality of car ownership and usage even if they don't need them (e.g. public transport availability), and as a means to show status publicly. And yet these same people have no particular issues with road rules and vehicle registration...most of the time. In fact, they are in favour of these things, as a general concept, especially on safety grounds.
Cars aren't designed for the purpose of killing - they have a function other than ending life. Guns were invented in 10th century China as weapons of war, and have spread throughout the world as being particularly good at killing. Sure, they can be used to kill non-human animals, but when you come down to it a car is for transport and a gun is for killing (except for those very few that are designed for target sports). That's the difference. So why are guns thought of as somehow different? Something besides safety and personality display is at play. It seems somehow much more visceral and personal.

Thoughts and prayers... but as usual in Gun Totin' Murica... no actual action to address the causes.![]()
Doesn't count - only 3 people were killed, not the 4 that is required for it to be noted.
You are going to care about the opinions and constitutional rights of such people? Or make an effort to disarm them in an effort to help them make better choices and seek different career paths (sarcasm, btw).
Of course, if you set that threshold at, say, 20 dead minimum then there are actually vanishingly few mass murders in the USA. You could count them on the fingers of one foot.
If you haven't accidentally shot them off...
eta: wasn't there a load of stories from China a few years back of people losing thumbs in industrial accidents and have one of their big toes, what you might call, 're-sited' to replace them?
end mass incarceration and the criminalization of poverty of Black and Latino people in four of the largest counties in Texas (Harris, Dallas, Bexar and Fort Bend) by creating a justice system that is fair and just.
6 killed, 3 wounded in Austin Texas.
The killer had previously been bailed out by a Soros funded organization whose mission is to
Hopefully they can bail him out again to help curb the problem of over incarceration, at least temporarily.
If they are criminals and gangs then "gun control" should consist of taking every last one they can find off them when they are arrested. Indeed, a gun-grab. You've been a bad person; you lose every darn weapon we can find; in, near or around you. Their arrest would be the justification. Unless the supposition is that when they get arrested the police just leave their guns behind neatly stacked in their hideouts and lairs?I was adding criminals and gangs to white male right wingers, to show how the level of opposition and lack of cooperation for gun control, makes improved gun control in the USA nigh on impossible.
Indeed. And to do that you need to know who has which gun. Which implies registration. To get guns under control, rather than worry about type of gun and possibly banning them, the actual need is to get all guns out of the hands of unsuitable people.
Yep.The UK has two levels of gun control. Who can have a gun is regulated and what type of gun they can have. The former is more important for gun control than the latter, as other western countries, who have fewer type of gun restrictions than the UK, also have very few mass shootings.
