Time for panic at the White House?

Gone for soldiers every one

FDR's ultimate stimulus package
Not really. We would have actually come out in better shape had we not had to eliminate the reich and the Co-Prosperity Sphere. War is only profitable when you are selling weapons.

But, what saved us was that we had a functioning industrial base when it was over. We made a lot of consumer goods. There was work for the veterans when they came home. We were able to grow the strongest middle class in the world.

Militarism is like becoming a drug dealer, then becoming your own best customer.

The war was, at the outset, good for Hitler, as lonng as he was gaining control of other countries' resources. After a while, he hit a point of diminishing returns, then ran into a deficit, and was eventually ruined.

The war we are in now is ruining us in the same way, and we are not even building an industrial base on which to recover once it is over.

The useless drongos who got all the tax cuts, who were allowed to trample all over the environment and abuse workers under the interregnum of Bush the Lesser were supposed to be creating jobs. Why haven't they? It's all a big con game with you people, and it is time for that to end.

So WHO is going to create jobs?

Do you understand what is going on in Greece?

Obama wants to make loans available to small businesses. He take take the money out of the hides of the fat cats who told us they would create jobs if they got a tax break and then just shoved it up their noses. The middle class creates more jobs than the worthless slime who set up factories off shore and then claim a tax break on "repatriated capital."

Do you understand what is going on in Greece?

Yeah. They don't make enough stuff to sell abroad and the rich have too many tax shelters.

Corporations. Look at how many jobs were created after the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. If we were to keep cutting taxes unemployment would fall below 0.

Okay yes, corporations are making record profits and it's true that the wealthy have more money than they have ever had in history but they just need more money. Cut taxes and give them tax credits and the job market will heat up white hot.

Obama said we would find bin Laden and kill him. The man is capable of focus. I don't agree at all that he's been a disaster. His differences with the Democratic "base" are a lovers' spat. They're not going to flock to Perry or Paul in droves.

We had a righteous bubble and a righteous bubble burst. Things could have been played differently; I wish we weren't stuck rebuilding other nations at our own expense, but I don't blame Obama. Heck, I barely blame Bush. I doubt Romney can do better and I'm not going to vote for Perry. That leave Obama and I don't feel bad about it.

Then Obama passes all the stupid non job creating things you stupid liberals love to do (Carters second term) To top it all off, you libs are dumping Obama when he is doing all that he knows to do, with your blessing, amazing.(except you don't believe in blessings):(

You liberals couldn't create a job if your lives depended on it. You don't believe in the way capitalism creates jobs.:jaw-dropp

I think most can agree the first Stimulus bill was pretty poor. I am not very excited about this second one. Cutting taxes doesn't make jobs in an environment like we are in (in fact it seldom makes jobs in general). We already have insanely low taxes. If that was going to make jobs, it already would have.

The problem with the Stimulus Bill is that it DIDN'T have these job creating things. It was filled with a lot of pork and the like, resulting in a tremendous amount of money that would make jobs years in the future if at all. There wasn't nearly enough money spent creating jobs immediately. The ideas for the second bill don't look a lot better (the more immediate stuff is a smaller part of the bill). It's also loaded down with the idea that we have to try to balance the budget in a major recession, which is insane.

I'm fairly disappointed in Obama overall. He didn't do a number of things I felt were important (like really work hard on an Open Government). I wouldn't say he's bad really, but he's not great. On the other hand, I do feel both parties are pretty much captured by corporate interests and are pretty incompetent (and in some cases a bit crazy).

Ha Ha what a joke Lefty, I'am a small business. An evil S corp as you would say.

Do you think more loans is what I need? What my customers need is confidence to spend there money

With Obama scaring the hell out of all people with money, it simply kills there confidence.

Plus you liberals have killed any chance of drilling our own oil, and we are already way behind, cause it takes 5 to 10 years to recover oil.

This economy will never come back with 3.50 gasoline. All the little people you stupid libs care about can't afford to drive and buy anything.

Thanks liberals

And again you libs deserve this huge loss you have coming;)

You don't understand confidence do you.

If you had millions would you start a new business now.

I recently spent a couple weeks near Athens. I sure don't. I didn't meet anyone there that understood it. Half of the people think the other half is crazy. Athens full of riots for a couple days, then everyone's tired out. What do you do then, if you are tired out you don't want to go back to work...

Riots are followed by...strikes....

Are you talking about potentially taxing the rich a little bit more? Pretty sure that doesn't scare them at all. Certainly it doesn't effect their overall money levels or actual spending power that much. If you get 1000 dollars, and then get another 1000 dollars, that second thousand is worth a little bit less than the first in terms of actual utility.

Most of the money spent that keeps the economy going is spent by the middle and lower classes. Give them money and they typically spend it straight into the economy. Rich people don't do that, because they can already buy anything they want. They'll invest it...and investing doesn't get people to actually go out to the store and BUY stuff right now.

A lot of unsubstantiated claims here. Do you actually have evidence for any of the claims you're making, or are you just repeating talking points you've heard on FOX news? Most non-partisan sources would disagree with much of what you've claimed here.

Do you think more loans is what I need? What my customers need is confidence to spend there money

You think that the problem with demand is that "people with money" are too scared to buy anything? Do you have evidence of that? Or do you think maybe it's because not enough people have money to buy things (for example all those people who are unemployed)?

Plus you liberals have killed any chance of drilling our own oil, and we are already way behind, cause it takes 5 to 10 years to recover oil.

Which liberals have killed any chance of drilling for oil?

56 shallow-water permits for new wells have been issued since June 8, 2010, when new rules and information requirements were put into effect following the BP oil spill. Shallow-water drilling operations were not affected by the deep-water drilling moratorium following the spill. In addition, since February of this year -- following the lifting of the moratorium and confirmation of the industry's ability to meet subsea containment requirements -- the government has approved 48 deep-water permits requiring subsea containment, covering 16 unique wells. Another 40 permits not requiring subsea containment have also been approved since October.

The problem is that we only have enough oil here in the United States to cover a small fraction of the oil that we use.

This economy will never come back with 3.50 gasoline. All the little people you stupid libs care about can't afford to drive and buy anything.

Do you have evidence that liberals have affected the price of gasoline?

False, we've got bunches of oil in the form of oil shale. And we produce about 50% of the gasoline and import the other half. Oil shale extraction is increasing dramatically, and in conjunction with the pipeline to Texas City from the Canadian oil sands deposits, we are for the first time in four decades, able to seriously look forward to energy independence.

That's not even talking about the effect of ramping up methanol usage for a transportation fuel.

Do you think more loans is what I need? What my customers need is confidence to spend there money.

If small entrepreneurs would start hiring people, they would have money to buy stuff from other entrepreneurs like you (assuming you sell something that the average working person needs.)

With Obama scaring the hell out of all people with money, it simply kills there confidence.

In other words, the rich are worthless, ineffectual sissies.

Plus you liberals have killed any chance of drilling our own oil, and we are already way behind, cause it takes 5 to 10 years to recover oil.

Then figure out how to do it without poinsoning the environment and everybody will be cool.

This economy will never come back with 3.50 gasoline. All the little people you stupid libs care about can't afford to drive and buy anything.

We could, however, tax the bejabbers out of the job-exporters and sieze the assets of criminal corporations and build an effective publixc transportation system so that we would be no more dependent on the indivdual automobile than are the Germans.

Thanks liberals

Thank the Koch bothers and other worthless money-gaming drongos who buy gasoline and then sit on it until the price goes up just because they can.
That gasoline is on the futures commodities market and available to be gamed like that is one of the defects of capitalism. But it is correctible by simple legislation.

If the republicons want to block such common-sense measures, they should be sent home.

You are just making excuses for your own lack of sense and business skills.

Problem is that he is afraid of the right wing noise machine ... What he hasn't figured out is that he is alienating HIS base thereby, and the GOP are going to invent something to trash him for no matter what he does.

Who is his alienated base going to vote for instead?

The right-wing noise machine is scary. His strategy may be to let it scare itself to death. I reread this article

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/05/07/070507fa_fact_macfarquhar

after the debt-ceiling thing. I'm not really sure where he's coming from but there may be a purpose. The every-man-for-himself right wing, the God-gave-Israel-to-the-Jews right wing, the I-got-mine-screw-the-poor-and-sick right wing - I do not think they speak for the center.

LOL, that's not what got Greece to where they are now.

Actualy it pretty much is. Mass tax evassion combined with that balance of payments problem with germany mean that what would normaly be mearly an extremely difficult situation is an impossible one.

Err if your customers are exclusively multi-millionaires it may be time to diversify unless you are an accountant or something.

Plus you liberals have killed any chance of drilling our own oil, and we are already way behind, cause it takes 5 to 10 years to recover oil.

Would it help if it was relabled a strategic reserve? The amount of oil the US can produce domesticaly can have little impact on world price. Particularly not with the degree of speculation going on in the market at the moment.

This economy will never come back with 3.50 gasoline. All the little people you stupid libs care about can't afford to drive and buy anything.

In that case your economy is perminantly destroyed unless you have a plan to nuke china or something. Still must have been fun while it lasted.

Well at least one line of speculation is that the rioters think they can effectively blackmail germany into paying off their debts.
