Time for panic at the White House?

But you know they are, so stop with the pretense.

Presumably some are, but that is hardly a reason to paint them with a broad brush. Calling them fools is much more appropriate as that is demonstrable.

And you also haven't shown that they would not be critical of Obama if he were not black. Or that they would like for the country's economy to continue to struggle because Obama is black.

Sorry, I can't see the difference.

Do you think that it would require racism to point out that a beneficiary of an affirmative action policy benefited from their race?

Claiming that being black has helped Obama's career may or may not be valid, but the possibility that one could benefit in an election because of their race, gender etc is certainly not outlandish and does not require bigotry to note.

Unless, of course, you point out that being white has benefited someone in such endeavors...

Agreed. He should have thown his weight around more and put the GOP into a vice where they had to accept what he wanted. He could have easily done this by executive orders and by treating the debt ceiling as nonexistent because it is clearly unconstitutional.

Problem is that he is afraid of the right wing noise machine. He knows that the minute he does anything that would push recovery of the country ahead that the GOP did not agree to, he will be roasted because he is a Democrat and because he is Black. (More the former than the latter, but not by much.)

What he hasn't figured out is that he is alienating HIS base thereby, and the GOP are going to invent something to trash him for no matter what he does.

He should right now say "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"
I agree he seems to be running scared. And that this is foolish because he will be trashed by the GOP no matter what he does (including finding cures for all diseases known and unknown and inventing perpetual motion). And I know he's managed to alienate me (a bleeding-heart Democrat). I've sent him several e-mails explaining why.

I used to vote on merit or position; recently, because of the polarization between Republicans and Democrats, especially with the Tea Party, I vote straight Democrat. But if there isn't a different Democrat running for President, I may have to go with a decent candidate who doesn't stand a chance of winning. Even though that will be helping the Republicans.

Me too, though I might be easier to alienate as I have been a Democrat only since 2001.

I wish I could tell you. He seems to be utterly tone-deaf on this.
He and his advisers aren't tone deaf or stupid. He knows that a portion of his support will not vote for any GOP candidate under any circumstance, so he doesn't need to worry about pleasing them. Others will vote against him no matter what he does, so he doesn't need to try to please them. The rest in the middle, the independents, the ones that got him elected, are the ones he has to try to please. His actions have thus far failed to please them.

I think he'll get desperate enough to shuffle the staff around.

Indict Wall Street

YESSSSS!

Probably one of the most significant things Obama could do. The people who bent America over the couch for somw not so sweet loving are still there raking in large bonuses and getting ready to bend us over again. Someone desperately needs to go to jail. How do you harm so many and put the US at significant risk only to be paid off for your efforts.

Folks in the middle like me want to see these ***** held accountable.

That's a big 10-4

Republicans saying that Obama is destroying Wall Street in 3... 2...
They can't say that until Obama actually does something, and that's the point, he hasn't. Probably easier said than done though. What laws were broken and who broke them is what we need to know. "Put all the Wall Street crooks in jail" is more of a Leftysergent approach.

:D I've been a Democrat since the late 1960s. My dad was Republican and my mom Democrat; he was more vocal and I still remember coming home from school (6th grade) after President Kennedy's assassination to wake my mom up and tell her. I thought she'd be happy as my dad was anti-Kennedy. Her reaction is what made me realize I didn't have to follow my dad's ideas automatically.

Some folks on the left (me) want the same thing. I just sent an e-mail to the President:
Fire. Indict. Fight.
I hope he hears about his e-mails.

We won't know without an investigation.

Covering Up Wall Street Crimes: Matt Taibbi Exposes How SEC Shredded Thousands of Investigations

An explosive new report in Rolling Stone magazine exposes how the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission destroyed records of thousands of investigations, whitewashing the files of some of the nation’s largest banks and hedge funds, including AIG, Wells Fargo, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and top Wall Street broker Bernard Madoff. Last week, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa said an agency whistleblower had sent him a letter detailing the unlawful destruction of records detailing more than 9,000 information investigations. We speak with Matt Taibbi, the political reporter for Rolling Stone magazine who broke this story in his latest article, "Is the SEC Covering Up Wall Street Crimes?"
