This might be a new low

What moderated content? Simply take this opportunity to explain how you feel about comparing gay people and President Obama to pedophiles. How disgusting that is. Why you feel it's wrong. What bugs you most about such a vile thing.

((Just picked your post of several asking for "proof" of this.))

The posts are in AAH. I actually tipped my hat to 16.5 for condemning the guy(s).

Let's not derail the derail with another derail. And get out there and vote for Mia Love on November 6th.

Point taken, but it's almost like 16.5 hit his quota on condemning bigotry and can't offer any more condemnation until next quarter. :D

And yes, Mia Love, November 6th! Be there!!!

I give you credit for not talking about Ms Love's sexual orientation.

Huh? Is this detritus from an old discussion? A subtle reference to the OP? I don't think I've ever heard anything said about Mia Love's sex life or orientation. Her positions are sufficient to merit scorn, not to mention that she is Fox's poster girl.

He does have two sentences where he says it was wrong to use the photo.

But he never says why it was wrong to use the photo. The problem is that it's hard to answer that question without tripping over the idea that there is no difference in effect (and very little, if any, in intent) between creating a lie and heedlessly passing along one so obvious that "of course" it shouldn't have been used. You can't have "of course" and deny where the "of course" comes from.

Yeah, huh???

Gotta love Allen's "retraction":

Wonderful- a deliberate photoshop job is "an innocent mistake"; pointing out the photoshop job is the lie.

And the best they could do by way of substitution to illustrate "latest examples of the undeniable link between homosexuality and pedophilia" is a photo of some gay activist wearing a NAMBLA sign almost thirty years ago (1986, according to this Wikipedia article on the activist in question, Harry Hay).

It's bad enough that idiots like Barber and Allen have no sense- they also have no shame.

I prefer Burns and Allen .....Now they were FUNNY!!!!!

Why can't this OP have been posted on the Right Wing Nuttery thread that already exists? it's very convenient for me to avoid these types of "random right winger says/does something crazy/offensive/stupid," threads.

If we are going to have a thread for every outrageous thing Travis finds on the net then I can see myself avoiding the forum more and more.

Honestly, craziness exists on both sides of the aisle. I ignore it and I think any rational person would too. There's simply no reason to waste brain cycles expressing outrage about these stupid people.

Aw, c'mon, lighten up. Crazy trains and crazy brains are Travis' reason for being. Let him have his fun in life.

Yes, I agree .... except when the loons have power. And that's where both sides of the aisle diverge. There is, for example, no Louis Gohmert on the right. Paying attention to and rebutting those kind of folk is worth the effort.

What a great way to ignore reality.

Why would having an unpleasant truth brought out in the open drive you away?

Honestly, craziness exists on both sides of the aisle.

No, no it does not. Find me some nationwide Liberal radio shows that say anything even remotely approaching the crazy that I routinely hear on the conservative ones. Find me one Democrat that routinely advocates for the murder of anti-abortion activists. Find me a liberal preacher that thinks the anti-gay activists should all be exterminated.

There's simply no reason to waste brain cycles expressing outrage about these stupid people.

These people are the base of the Republican party. They are the ones that drive policy. We ignore them at our peril. We look the other way and we risk waking up one day to find people being nailed to posts in the town square under charges of "heresy" or "apostasy."

I'm not ignoring reality. I am well aware that there are fringe elements that say crazy things, I choose not to give them the attention they want. I could go on white power sites and mine some pretty crazy quotes and I would be outraged at what they say, But they are a minority who have loud mouths but no political power. I'll save my outrage for things that actually have a chance at affecting policy.

Why would having an unpleasant truth brought out in the open drive you away?
Because this "unpleasant truth" is irrelevant, I have no desire to read thread after thread of irrelevant nuts and their nutty ideas. Let me know when someone says something crazy that is affecting legislation and public policy,

Have you never listened to Al Sharpton, that preacher Obama used to listen to, the anti-nuclear power crowd, the radical feminists, etc etc? And I don't know of any liberal talk show hosts; they don't get much air time. I could quote mine all these people and come up with some crazy stuff, but it have much better things to do with my time.

I come here to discuss important issues, not make fun of nutty people,

This is way off. They are not the base of the GOP but the fringe.

What else? The first Tuesday following the first Monday in November is election day. That's November 6th this year and hopefully a not so fond bye bye to lots of Dems and Harry, like his pal Nancy, will be losing his gravel in January, 2015. :D

Or, with luck, the republicker politicians and the teabaggers will all go down in flames all over the Pacific Ocean. I do not know why they would be there, but I won't be troubled if it happens. And the US will be way better off - as will much of the rest of the world if the equivalent happened in other locations.

This is way off. They are not the base of the GOP but the fringe.

If they are just a fringe then why is the GOP crafting policy to appease them? I mean look at the the GOP has been doing lately: anti-gay laws all over the place, abortion restrictions all over the place, laws attempting to adhere to Biblical codes.

Are you saying the Republicans are letting a tiny minority steer the policies of the larger party?

They are not the base of the GOP but the fringe.

I disagree; they are the base. These wack-a-loon Republican/conservative politicians, bloggers and radio talking heads know exactly who their base is.

An intresting read:

5 things we learned on Tuesday

From that article:

While Democrats argue that the move to the right will backfire on the GOP come November, midterm elections are traditionally low turnout affairs compared to presidential elections. And in such contests, the key to victory is often getting out the base.

Of course they don't - that's the only way you can be a republicker. Just look at what the last 15 years with them did to John McCain!!!:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp:jaw-dropp

So whether the perps(sic) did the photoshopping themselves or just took advantage of the work of some other miscreant and posted the picture without caring whether or not it was legitimate is THE question that skeptics should be concerned about?

Or.... this is just a convenient dodge to try to take the focus off the right wing nutbags' continued hateful and bigoted lies about the POTUS and shift it over to Travis?

Avid readers of this thread will already know the answer.

Yes, yes they will - and we have no difficulty recognizing the evil side on this and so much else.

Awwww, where is ABC10? She must be giddy about Mia Love winning, and when I saw this bumped I was hoping she'd come back to crow. Maybe she's cookin' and sewin' for Cliven and the boys down at the old homestead?
