They're better now, my right operates at 70%, and my left is a good 85%. Either can hold a chisel and swing a 3 lb hammer. And depending on the angle of attack, I use both well.

I've only worked stone at two points in my life, in high school I used a forged steel chisel to split several hundred concrete patio stones. They split easy with a simple score line. It took like a dozen hits to make a good split, give or take. And in the past year or so, I've been lettering a piece of granite with a carbide tipped chisel and diamond tipped drumel tools.

I'd say the first work I did was rough, hapless, and mistakes were invisible. The work I do now, is fine lettering on some of the hardest stone you can find, and mistakes have to be polished out, least it look like garbage, and be more prone to weathering.

Oh, and I've carved several figures out of white marble with a drumel tool.

From that post of yours, its clear you are not ready and/or willing to leave the fantasies of your youth. It will be painful to realize the ammount of time and effort you wasted for nothing. Maybe you already do but find it all too horrific to accept.
The sooner you let it go, the better. The longer you stick to it, the more you will have to mourn. Days, months, years and decades will pass, UFOs will not land, Atlantis will not be found, 2012 will not bring the events antecipated by the doomsday mongers, no reliable evidence of paranormal events will appear, no bigfoot will be found...
One day you'll find the time is gone, you are still in square one and the world looks pretty much like what skeptics were saying all the time...

Then you were doing it wrong. Consequently you have no credibility as a knowledgeable stone worker. Your arguments from incredulity and ignorance added to your false claim of understanding the relevant stone-working techniques amount to a complete failure to support your position.

Your qualifications to understand stone working have been challenged, and you have been unable to demonstrate that you have any such qualifications. In fact, you have demonstrated that your claim to being qualified has no foundation and is simply false. Any continued claim to possess any such qualifications will be a lie.
