The Zeitgeist Movement... why not?

Hey guys. Since this thread proves interesting to so many people I thought I would post the news here. The New York ZDay Event went really good. Big turn out. Plus the hundreds of other events around the world. We got about 265 people at the Vancouver event. Here are some clips of the NYC event. http://thezeitgeistmovement.com/joo...om_kunena&Itemid=3&func=view&catid=2&id=80356

Also, we got a review of the event in the New York Times. Neat!

Happy Z Day! :)

All in all, it is becoming a large movement. Which confirms my intuition regarding that more and more people is becoming disappointed with the current model (political and economical). I'm glad, because established dogmas can only change when a critical mass of people notices that the world past generations have created, is nothing but one of many possible.

So, new generations are rapidly changing from "this is how it is" to "who decided it and why can't we decide for ourselves".

Amazing. Deja vu.
[FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]"We weren't sure what to expect that first day," said 9/11 activist Cristian Fleming, "So we were surprised at the people from all walks of life who came up to thank us for having the courage to do this and asking how they might get involved."

265 potheads have a party in Vancouver and the "movement" is growing?

Well we all know that the appeal to popularity is the last stance of those who cannot argue the merits of there ideas. Again, even thousands of people that offer nothing demanding something is a movement that has nothing to threaten the rest of us with. All we have to do is take our toys and go home, and their "movement" folds.

So why did you Venusians bring it up to begin with?

Nah, it will fade away just like all the other fringe fad beliefs.

I was actually referencing the Venusians, and how after months of debating this thread has become nothing more than them now trying to claim that the movement is now popular and hence is correct. All this without being able to answer to legitimate criticism.

Riiight.. and you give me the  face..... ROFL!!!!

Lists of countries where the Zeitgest Day Events were hold:

Interesting, only ONE event wasn't canceled in my country.AFAIK nothing in news...

They didn't even have any in Canada east of Quebec. Not even in Halifax with our abundance of Universities (3) and a fair number of colleges we tend to get a lot of different social revolution groups. Most federal elections we get a Candidate from the Communist Party of Canada and Candidate from the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada but no Zeitgeist event. Weird.

You will get a lot of events with a movement that incorporates every nutty CT under the sun, and yes I know... "*sigh*"...that isn't what your movement is about; but it really is. Excuse me while I whip this out (scream), but the truth of the matter is that the main supporters of these ideas are not exactly Atlas. I never really hear anyone say that they are an engineer and they are a proponent of the Venus Project. I hate to say it, but these people who support the Venus Project have little to offer me; and yes I would rather be poor in a system that gives me at least some element of control as opposed to one that assumes all that all I create is the property of the whole. In that system I do nothing; because the onus is on me to appear as the most needy, not the most productive. Heck read Animal Farm or actually read 1984 given that the CT'ists quote it without understanding what was being talked about.

The Venus Project is merely the modern version of Marxism, but with people so ignorant as to not understand that the Soviet era oppression was the result of trying to implement Marxism.

The former may be most famous for alleging that the attacks of Sept. 11 were an “inside job” perpetrated by a power-hungry government on its witless population, a point of view that Mr. Joseph said he has recently “moved away from.” Indeed, the second film, the focus of the event, was all but empty of such conspiratorial notions, directing its rhetoric and high production values toward posing a replacement for the evils of the banking system and a perilous economy of scarcity and debt.

The problem with the Movement lies in the selective observations of enthusiasts like this reporter. Saying the second movie is "all but empty of such conspiratorial notions" is simply incorrect. Furthermore, "posing a replacement for the evils of the banking system" seems to be little more than an appeal to emotion to reel in as many rebels without a cause as they can.

Can anyone cite where Peter Joseph says he's "moved away from" 9/11 conspiracies? That's a pretty integral element of his criticism of government, it seems unlikely that he'd abandon it unless it was just an exploit to give the Venus Project more attention.

Like I alluded to earlier, if I live in a society where I can be anything I want and everything's provided to me then my new job is to be a Colonial Marine. I want the robots providing me with a pulsed plasma rifle (including grenade launcher) and some Xenomorphs to shoot. Maybe I'll have the Xenomorphs implanted in a hospital where they can tear things up and kill some sick people before I liquidate them. With no more police or law what's to stop me?

You are a great representative of your cult.

No one alienated more of on-line America and the entire world from their messiah than the Ron Bots themselves.
Well if you notice there is a pattern in his arguments.
1.) He makes a statement, 2.) someone backs him into a corner by tearing apart the statement, 3.) he then makes an attempt at belittling humor to remove attention from his failure. 4.)That is until he finds a new statement from the cult to present here and start the pattern all over again.

And the Ron Bots.....whew...I originally supported Ron Paul and then moved away from that when I started finding out not only how crazy his supporters could be, but the fact that Ron Paul himself was not making enough effort to distance himself from the CT'ists.
