The war in Afghanistan is fake

I'm finding more evidence each and every day, suggesting that the war in Afghanistan is being artificially prolonged, by funding and aiding the Taliban who are still fighting a guerilla war in Afghanistan 7 years after the invasion. I think the reason for this is that the people who have taken control over the American government want to expand the empire. If you read Zbigniew Brzezinski's book, the Grand Chessboard, and the PNAC document you discover that both argue for a permanent base in central Asia to project power into the region. Ofcourse the calls for withdrawal of NATO troops would become to strong if the Taliban had been defeated and there wouldn't be a real threat to the current Afghan (puppet) government anymore. That's why American troops and allied forces are continously caught while aiding the Taliban in every way you can imagine. What do you think about this theory?

David, I suggest you educate yourself about insurgencies and guerrilla warfare, and the geography of Afghanistan in general. There are many more plausible reasons for why the Taliban continues to fight than a conspiracy theory that has no evidence (or at least none presented here). BTW, what role do you think the Pakistani border and the politics that surrounds that plays into this prolonged conflict?

You say you find more evidence every day, please tell us what it is.

I imagine this would be news to every person on the planet, not the least least of whom are the Taliban.

Odd, I have served in the area, and I know hundreds of soldiers, including some fairly senior officers who have too, and I have never heard of this evidence. What by chance are you referring to?

What good, exactly, for power projection is a military base in the middle of an active guerilla war? The troops in Afghanistan can't be used for military excursions elsewhere because they're tied down fighting the Taliban. Therefore, your proposed conspiracy is self-defeating unless there's some mechanism for rapidly withdrawing support from the Taliban and wiping them out on demand, but not leaving enough time for calls for withdrawing troops.

He read a book man! HE READ A BOOK!!!
That's trumps your silly 'being there' stuff.

They are not aiding the Taliban. Where is your proof? They are helping the Northern Alliance. You are rigth in away. USA is helping criminals like Burhanuddin Rabbani and Abdul Rashid Dostum allso Northern alliance have violated human rigths. Second Abdul Rasul Sayyaf is free in Afghanistan and seems to be Hamid Karzais friend. Even though some people say that Abdul Rasul Sayyaf was involved in the assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud. Then it is very strange why USA is letting ISI to protect Gulbuddin Hekmatyar aka Rocketyar. Opium is a big problem in Afghanistan. Opium production has increased in Afghanistan. USA went to Iraq and forgot were the real terrorists are.

Well first of all there are the reports of permanent bases being build in Afghanistan:

(I'm apparently not allowed to post links yet but it's necessary for the discussion so I hope nobody here minds.)
Why do you think that is? They're planning on staying in the Middle East for decades. They never went after Mullah Omar, who still heads the Taliban today. Whenever troops are close to catching him they aren't given permission to go after him. Other forces have to come but because they're far removed from him they arrive when he's already gone. Events like these have occured on multiple occassions. They even flew hundreds of insurgents to Pakistan, just after the invasion. It gets worse though. The British recently got caught offering the Taliban to train 5000 troops for them. This was part of a plan in which the British offered the Taliban a part of an Afghan province that's responsible for half of Afghanistan's opium production, in exchange for a limited ceasefire. Nato forces have also been caught dumping supplies that were picked up by Taliban forces because they were dropped 300 feet from a Taliban commander's house. Why do you think this all is? Do you defeat your enemy by giving away those provinces that are most profitable?

These are three-year old articles stating that the possibility of permanent bases in Afghanistan was being considered at that time, not reports of bases being built. How has the situation evolved in the last three years?

And how exactly is a force tied down in a guerilla war supposed to be used for effective power projection?

Actually, that seems to me to be the unanswered response to all the neocon motive theories of 9-11.

The Taliban APPROVES of opium production?!?

This pre-war article seems to disagree:
U.N. drug control officers said the Taliban religious militia has nearly wiped out opium production in Afghanistan -- once the world's largest producer -- since banning poppy cultivation last summer.

Are they now open to drug trafficking and the profits that come with it?

Here's one that was recently completed. Notice how the base was build just 3 kilometers removed from the border with Pakistan. Anyway, has anyone here heard about the British operation I described earlier? What's your opinion on that?

The Taliban began fighting Opium because they received US aid in exchange. I don't think they care a lot anymore since they didn't seems to care much before 2001 either. Here's a graph that shows opium production in Afghanistan:

Furthermore, the New York Times says that the Taliban encourages Opium production in the area's it controls:
