Atracurium ampules had been incorrectly included in vaccination packs assembled in one district vaccine center and then distributed to four separate vaccination teams. Five years later, atracurium was again mistakenly used as measles vaccine diluent in Samoa in 2019, directly killing 2 children, reflexively leading to halted measles vaccinations followed by an overwhelming measles outbreak resulting in the deaths of 83 young children due to undervaccination.

ArsTechnica did a story on the MAHA meeting that included some information about Matthew Memoli, who coauthored the article on the next pandemic discussed upthread. John Timmer wrote, "Matthew Memoli, acting NIH Director prior to Bhattacharya and currently its principal deputy director, shares Bhattacharya’s view that he was right, saying, “I’m not trying to toot my own horn, but if you read the email I sent [about pandemic policy], everything I said actually has come true. It’s shocking how accurate it was.” Yet he also proudly proclaimed, “I knew I wasn’t getting vaccinated, and my wife wasn’t, kids weren’t. Knowing what I do about RNA viruses, this is never going to work. It’s not a strategy for this kind [of virus].” And yet the benefits of COVID vaccinations for preventing serious illness have been found in study after study—it is, ironically, science that has been reproduced."

He also wrote, "Bhattacharya also acknowledged that the US suffers from large health disparities between different racial groups. Yet grants funding studies of those disparities were cut during DOGE’s purge of projects it labeled as “DEI.” Bhattacharya was happy to view that funding as being ideologically motivated. But as lawsuits have revealed, nobody at the NIH ever evaluated whether that was the case; Matthew Memoli, one of the other speakers, simply forwarded on the list of grants identified by DOGE with instructions that they be canceled."

In a pre-recorded interview sent to GAVI officials, RFK Jr. said, “In its zeal to promote universal vaccination, it has neglected the key issue of vaccine safety.” To prove it, RFK Jr. held up a methodologically flawed study done in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa, that showed an increase in female mortality following receipt of the diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP) vaccine. Other studies, including a study done by these same investigators, failed to reproduce this finding. In other words, based on a flawed, irreproducible study, RFK Jr. put thousands of children at risk. “Of all the global health programs that have been cut,” said Dr. Atul Gawande, who has overseen global health for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), “this will likely mean more deaths than any other.”

He went on to say, "On January 28, 2026, RFK Jr. said that he would cancel all future support for GAVI until they phased out the use of vaccines containing the ethyl-mercury preservative, thimerosal...RFK Jr.’s request to GAVI to remove thimerosal from all childhood vaccines—which would mean eliminating multi-dose vials—isn’t trivial. Multi-dose vials are particularly important for resource-poor countries because they cost less and require simpler cold storage when refrigerated space is limited."

For hepatitis B and HPV, the deaths won't be of children, but of adults. The major benefit of both isn't in childhood, but preventing the adult consequences of (in particular for hep B) childhood infection. Chronic hepatitis B infection worldwide is the largest cause of cirrhosis and liver cancer. You are far more likely to develop chronic hepatitis B if infected as a child than as an adult, more likely the younger at the time of infection. For hep B, the earlier you vaccinate the better. It would be fairly easy to do a study showing no lives were saved from HPV childhood or hep B infant vaccination if you only looked at a year after vaccination. The greatest benefits are decades away.

They are not trying to save them. And RFK Jr. already has a poor reputation with the health of his own kids. That whale-head he strapped to the roof of the car? His own children said the rotting juices dripped in the windows of the car onto them, for the whole trip home. I don't happen to think that deliberately pouring buckets of extract of rotten mammal giblets on kids for hours is "good parenting". Quite the opposite.

Which amounts to the same thing. Kids will die unnecessarily because of their actions or inactions, whether you call it murder or neglect. But the point is these dingbats in charge don't seem to want to care one iota about that. Obviously, there's a different agenda going on. And my money is on white Christian supremacy. Oh and personal profit for their own grifty medicine schemes.
 
I hate to say this because it sounds like pedantics or nitpicking, but I actually think it's important --there's a massive difference between enacting policies that happen to lead to dead kids, and deliberately setting out to kill kids (ALL kids, even). Someone opposed to stricter gun regulations, or lower speed limits, or better pollution regulations, isn't deliberately trying to kill all kids, even though dead kids might be an indirect outcome of those positions. Antivaxxers suck, and their delusions definitely lead to completely avoidable illness and death, but to assign them a motive of wanting to kill kids is doing the pro-vax side a disservice. This regime is terrible enough without us resorting to hyperbole.

Yes, of course, we're back to the old dichotomous right wing excuse. You can't call them evil because they're too stupid. At some point, though, when the stupidity is ideological and self-inflicted, the distinction becomes less relevant, I think. Kennedy is a deluded junkie with the last of his worm-chewed neurons sparking and shorting enough to excuse him from intention, but those who signed him up and those who signed on to his crew deserve no such exception.
