Of course future parents too need to be allowed to experience the freedom to drive home with a rotting animal carcass strapped to the roof of their car, be it a bear, bison, or mountain lion. Smell those animal juices seeping in through the windows, kids? That's the smell of freedom!

Not the freedom, the necessity of doing so. It will be the law, the cure-all for everything, from headaches to cancer. Imagine! Tens of millions of cars dring around the USA, all with rotting animals on their roofs, and empty hospitals. RFK Jr. would jizz himself!

(Reuters) -U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to announce that use of Kenvue's popular over-the-counter pain medication Tylenol in pregnant women is potentially linked to autism, contrary to medical guidelines that say it is safe to use, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Kennedy, in the report, will also suggest a medicine derived from folate called folinic acid can be used to treat symptoms of autism in some people, the WSJ reported.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said that until the final report is released, claims about its contents are speculation. "We are using gold-standard science to get to the bottom of America’s unprecedented rise in autism rates," the spokesperson said.

Shares of Kenvue fell 14% after the report. Tylenol, whose active ingredient is acetaminophen, is a widely used pain reliever, including by pregnant women.

It would not surprise if there is a correlation between pregnant women taking Tylenol and autism of their children, given the massive number of pregnant women who took that drug, but I will bet my house that no causation will be demonstrated or even hinted at. This will, of course, not stop this evil ◊◊◊◊ from proclaiming victory.
 
At Inside Medicine Jeremy Faust has a thoughtful discussion of Tylenol (acetaminophen). "Unlike many Kennedy community claims, a link between autism and Tylenol is not complete garbage...But a 2024 study from Sweden published in the Journal of the American Medical Association provided what looks to have been a devastating rebuttal to the thought. The Swedish team elegantly cut through the noise by simply comparing outcomes among siblings. That was a clever natural experiment, and it was novel to this question. Using that approach inherently removed many (most?) of the confounding variables, such as the genetics of the mothers and other risk factors. The Tylenol and autism link fell apart."

About 27 of those studies reported a positive association (and my amazing team is already digging into them), while the rest found no link or were inconclusive. The studies varied widely in design; some were large cohort studies using prescription records, others were smaller case–control or self-report studies, which made a formal meta-analysis (when data are pooled and analyzed) impossible. The authors stressed that these inconsistencies mean we can’t draw firm conclusions, but they did recommend judicious use (lowest effective dose, shortest duration), not blanket avoidance." Because of how it is metabolized, acetaminophen (paracetamol) is toxic to the liver in sufficiently large quantities; therefore, judicious use makes sense on those grounds.
