The Truth about RFK Jr

It's only a handful of dead kids in the USA. There are thousands dying elsewhere around the world, like in Gaza and Myanmar and Yemen. Buck up! Surely you can spare a few, if it means tomorrow belongs to you.

I sincerely hope that all of these bastards responsible for this mess one day find themselves in the care of surgeons who also believe "move fast and break things" is a great idea.
I can't, in good conscience, wish for this eventuality. Nor can I, in good conscience, claim I would do anything to intervene were it to come to pass.

What might be a more painful solution is eventually having to buy the USA's entire supply of critical vaccines and medicines from other countries which went ahead and manufactured them, and incurring huge tariff penalties in the process as well. Hundreds of billions of dollars worth of unnecessary expense, plus running up the national debt, plus all the wasted time and lives.

Well, you know- it's from the same school of thought that says no matter how many kids get gunned down in schools, there's no reason to maybe re-examine that whole 2nd Amendment thing beyond thoughts and prayers after the fact. Meanwhile, a few kids might see or hear about transgender people or be taught the fact that black people in the US were once treated as objects for sale and then as lesser people to scorn, and it's "OMG! Won't someone think of the CHILDREN!?!!??!"

Maybe it's an offshoot of doctrinaire utilitarianism. The greatest good for the greatest number of people varies not only with the number of people you consider, but the greatness of the good. The suffering of the few is balanced against not only the survival of the many, but against their feeling of joy and righteousness. The holier your cause, not only is the suffering of the few less important, but their number as well. And after all, in a different context, you can spin it into much the same idea that sends soldiers out on a dangerous mission, or workers into the pits of Chernobyl.

Another child with measles in Texas has died, the Department of Health and Human Services confirmed late Saturday night.

The school-aged girl was recently diagnosed with the viral disease and died at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Lubbock, the hospital said in a statement Sunday morning.

"The child was receiving treatment for complications of measles while hospitalized," according to the statement. "It is important to note that the child was not vaccinated against measles and had no known underlying health conditions. This unfortunate event underscores the importance of vaccination."

This is the second pediatric death amid a fast-growing outbreak that’s infected nearly 500 people in Texas alone since January. An adult in New Mexico is also suspected of dying from measles. The deaths are the first from the disease in the United States in a decade.
Is going to the funeral.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted on X Sunday that he was in Gaines County, the epicenter of the outbreak, to meet with families in the community. He said he had spoken to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to offer continued support and that CDC teams had been sent back to the state.

In the post, Kennedy, said, "the most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine."

Kennedy had been expected to attend the child’s funeral on Sunday, according to a person familiar with the plans.

The Kennedy family is pretty well-known for sticking together, for supporting one another, at least in public. But very uncharacteristically they broke ranks and warned people not to vote for RFK, Jr. They said publicly there's something wrong with him.

What's wrong with him is that the brain worm didn't kill him. But maybe measles will.

Medicinal chemist Derek Lowe wrote, "The article (which definitely seems well-sourced and is all too believable)
Did you read the article? Did you follow up on its sources? Did you find the original source reports "all too believable"? Or did you just accept Lowe's assessment without question?

Also, is it just me, or is "all too believable" a giant LED arrow pointing brightly at confirmation bias or some similar fallacy?

It might be you. Either way, damn strange hill you picked to die on.
