The Truth about RFK Jr

DURBIN: How can we give hope to people across the country who are suffering from so many diseases when our government is cutting back on that research?

RFK Jr: I do not know about any cuts to ALS research

DURBIN: I just read them to you!

RFK Jr: I didn't know about them until you told me about them in this moment

The AP reported, "But the FDA framework, published Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, urges companies to conduct large, lengthy studies before tweaked vaccines can be approved for healthier people. It’s a stark break from the previous federal policy recommending an annual COVID shot for all Americans six months and older. In the paper and a subsequent online webcast, the FDA’s top vaccine official said more than 100 million Americans still should qualify for what he termed a booster under the new guidance...“Is the pharmacist going to determine if you’re in a high-risk group?” asked Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine expert at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “The only thing that can come of this will make vaccines less insurable and less available.”...[Vinay] Prasad said the FDA will ask all manufacturers to do new clinical trials in healthy people ages 50 to 64, randomly assigning them to get a vaccine or a placebo and tracking outcomes with special attention to severe disease, hospitalization or death." A placebo? I eagerly await the response of those wiser in the area of medical ethics than I am.

NPR reported, ""Secretary Kennedy had made it clear that he would never take vaccines away from anyone," Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, said in an interview with NPR, referring to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who oversees the FDA. "This violates that in every way possible" because if insurance companies won't pay for the vaccine many people simply won't be able to afford it.""

Lucky Tran of Columbia University wrote on BlueSky, "Under its new leadership — who spread misinformation throughout the pandemic — the FDA announced it will limit all Covid vaccines to adults over 65 and those with certain medical conditions. Covid continues to spread and cause harm. This [is] an anti-science move that will kill more Americans."

ARS Technica reported, "These trials can easily cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and they can take many months to complete. The requirement for such trials will make it difficult, if not impossible, for drug makers to conduct them each year and within a timeframe that will allow for seasonal shots to complete the trial, get regulatory approval, and be produced at scale in time for the start of the respiratory virus season."

On 19 May 2025 at SBM David Gorski discussed an essay by James Lyons-Weiler. Dr. Gorski wrote, "One thing you must remember about these ethical principles [discussed in the preceding paragraphs] is that they govern only human subjects research. That means more than just randomized clinical trials. It means preliminary trials, observational studies, or any study in which the experimentation might cause significant harm to research subjects. Again, though, it does not mean medical practice. It does not mean standard-of-care medical interventions, like approved vaccines. Does that stop JLW? Of course not. It just motivates him to find a way to misrepresent the vaccination program as experimental. Again, longtime readers will not find this to be surprising. Antivaxxers have been misrepresenting the childhood vaccination program as “experimental” almost as long as I’ve been paying attention...I could see a “tweak” such as saddling vaccines with a label of “experimental” until some onerous postlicensure process had occurred might be the next step in the dismantling of the US federal vaccination program. Make no mistake. That is the endgame here, no matter how much RFK Jr. lies when he says he doesn’t want to take vaccines away from anyone who wants them."

When Americans start dying in droves of diseases easily prevented elsewhere in the world, the USA will become the Congo of North America. Nobody will want to go there; nobody will be allowed out; death will be rife. Building the walls is the goal of the isolationist right. The price is going to be the lives of everyone's families.

That's actually the first time I've heard him speak and, well, it didn't change my impression that he's a reanimated corpse.
Only partially reanimated at that. I had heard him speak before and he was never anyone you'd want to hear, but I think he's getting crazier, or stupider, or both. If you take his statements as they come, he's basically made it clear that he cannot understand questions, that he cannot understand what he is doing, and cannot remember half of it. It appears his fearless leader's blend of maliciousness and mendacity is another of the infections we can expect to run wild for a while.

In response to Senator Hassan,
Secretary Kennedy: Yeah, I’ve said that that the best way to stop the spread of measles is through vaccination. I would say this: we have handled this measles outbreak. We get a measles outbreak every year, we’ve handled this measles outbreak better than any other nation.

That "we’ve handled this measles outbreak better than any other nation" is a typical Trumpism, an expression of the ideology of American exceptionalism, and for some reason Americans always eat it up, which is what makes the USA utterly ridiculous in the eyes of people of every other nation on Earth. If it weren't for all the nuclear bombs, the leaders of those nations would call it out whenever they were dealing with the leaders of the USA.

The worst part of it is that even Americans who know that the Trump administration, people like RFK Jr., Kristin Noem, Pete Hegseth, etc., are the country's most ignorant and incompetent narcissists, handpicked by Trump for their willingness to kiss up to him, even Americans who know enough to see this are longing for a return to a mythical time when America was great, which the non-MAGA Americans seem to think was just before the most recent election unlike the MAGA Americans, who think that it was back when women knew their place and black people weren't uppity.

Never mind, I just came to the thread today to post a link to Josh Johnson talking about RFK Jr.
RFK Jr: Head of Health and Human Sewage (Josh Johnson on YouTube, May 21, 2025 - 46:42 min.)
Hi Friends,
This week I wanted to share my thoughts on the head of Health and Human Services RFK Jr. RFK has made his agenda and intentions known from early on even before he was confirmed as the head of health and human services.
He has made controversial and definitively incorrect statements both before and after his confirmation.
Now in his role he has real power over medical and health protocols that he does not believe in meaning personnel and funding could be cut to a level we haven’t seen and could never recover from.

For people who only know Josh Johnson as one of the 'correspondents' on The Daily Show, his persona on stage is a little different. He pretends to be fairly ignorant (which he isn't) for comedic effect and to have a hard time getting to the point, but he always gets there.
He is a brilliant new comedian, and he makes Americans smarter, not dumber like the many comedians who have resorted to becoming MAGA influencers and podcast hosts - like Joe Rogan.

well then i hope the grandkids get sick and get all their classmates sick and then they die. but the grandkids survive and have to take rfk to 30 funerals
Wow, you sound like the MAGA people celebrating Biden's deadly cancer diagnosis.

I honestly hope his grandchildren die.
He won’t learn anything, but the positive effect of people dying because they are exposed to such non-thinking outweighs his grandkids dying
Wow, you also sound like the MAGA people celebrating Biden's deadly cancer diagnosis.

Yes.
For some reason, many people who ought to know better resort to this kind of imaginary Schadenfreude.
It's like when people rejoice at seeing family members of MAGA voters deported or their children exposed to (white) MAGA racism.
The children of MAGA parents shouldn't have to pay for the sins of their parents.
