Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

Oh, my. I just seconded a Bob post (which I saw quoted after posting the above, I have him on ignore).

It’s the end of the world, folks. Been nice knowing ya.

Anyway right now the White House Switchbard is overloading with phone calls from GOP big wigs yelling "Dont't Do It ,Donald, Don"t Do It1".
If it hastens the end of Trump's presidency, they might be all for it. At this point they'd probably prefer Pence.

And it might not even be legal under Federal Law; Nepotism in the federal service is a big, huge no no. Yeah, Ivanaka got away with being a unpaid advisor, but White House COS is totally different. it's an actual job.
I guess trump would claim that "executive privilege" overrules Federal Workplace rules, but it would be fought out in court, guaranteed.

If you exclude all the would have been GOP but signed up as no party affiliation or Independent, then maybe. But I don't believe the next generation of conservatives are all of the alt-right ilk.

Oh, I hope you're right. But that hope is worn pretty thin.

Pence had the look of a 12 year old kid who is hanging out at his friend's house and his friend's parents get into an argument in front of him.

Pence had the look of a man wondering whether, if he sat perfectly still he could push against the carpet with his toes and edge his chair a millimetre at a time out the door without anyone noticing.

Yeah, I’ve had that expression: “I’m invisible, I’m invisible. No one can see me.”

"Committed to building wall"? "We have never built wall that high"? Did Trump write that himself?

30 feet high and continuous. That baby is gonna is going to feel some tremendous (you might say yuuuuuge) aerodynamic forces, especially near the Gulf. $25B is not going to get it done.

So many people have a tenuous relationship with logic and common sense. My people call them "Trumpers".

Seriously the VP literally can just wake up every morning and go "Is the President still alive? Good. Is the Senate tied on anything? Good." and then roll back over and go to bed.

That's true. But it doesn't have to be that way. The prez can delegate a lot of power to the Veep is he so chooses.

Also why Puerto Rico will never be let in as a state. We are trying to keep the darkies out after all.

I wouldn't put it to racism (although I don't discount that as a factor) but rather the GOP sees Puerto Rico as a Democratic gold mine ... and they're right. Hence, no statehood.

(Re: (b)…(/b):
into trumpf.. Say a Cutthroat Trout or an Electric Eel. Something he could learn from...….

Someone much earlier in the thread suggested the bold could be a Stormy Daniels quote.

I know it's like beating a dead horse, but does Trump always have to sound so stupid and arrogant:

"To tell me a couple weeks before Christmas that she's going to close in Ohio and Michigan -- not acceptable to me," Trump said. "And she's either going to open fast or somebody else is going in. But General Motors is not going to be treated well."

"It doesn't really matter because Ohio is under my leadership from a national standpoint," he said. "Ohio is going to replace those jobs in like two minutes."

This was from his interview with Fox.

Does he expect that GM is going to just turn around and reverse their plans to close certain plants? Doesn't he understand that a sizable group of people pored over data and prepared lengthy reports before the CEO made her decision? I mean he is a great businessman, probably the best ever.
But I guess it's okay, he's got Ohio covered. Two minutes tops to replace those jobs.
The man is ridiculous.

How is that not extortion? Punishing a business for making legal business decisions? Not that I'm a huge fan of GM.

That is not going to play well in Ohio. Sounding so breezy about the state's future is trivializing a problem. I don't think they are stupid in Ohio.

I think I'll go with "the man is not right in the head" for my broken-record all-purpose Trump statement. My relatives seemed to get less defensive when I put it that way. There's something wrong with his health, not his fault, but he shouldn't be president.

ETA: They must not be too thrilled about Trump in Istanbul, either. Or maybe Ankara is a better way to put it.

Another criminal investigation.

Manhattan-based federal prosecutors are investigating whether some of the $107 million in donations to then President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural committee were misspent, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

The Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, said the investigation arose in part from the slew of materials seized in April raids on Trump's former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, by federal prosecutors. Cohen on Wednesday was sentenced to three years in prison on charges that came in part from those April raids on his office and residence.

The criminal probe is also looking into whether some of the committee's top spenders traded money for access to the incoming Trump administration, as well as "policy concessions or to influence official administration positions," sources told the Journal.

Ohio is under his leadership ... he's having a full-on break with reality. He's retreated into a fantasy of his power. I like the way CNN reported this, as a straight-up business story without editorializing. The general CNN tone during his presidency has been very frustrating to me. It's not necessary to tell viewers/readers how strange this man's world-view is. Trump accomplishes that just fine with his own words.

The objections invoking the very, very low participation in the votes to determine if they want to be a state are fair, too, for that matter, much as I expect that partisanship plays a notable role.
