The Sessions sessions

Seems to be total confusion this morning (at least at ABC) as to which committee he'll testify before, whether it'll be open or closed, or if he'll testify at all. Fun times!

If I were a betting man, I would bet he will corroborate Comey's statement about leaving the room but provide little or no additional information about the Russian investigation. I bet he will walk the tight rope and say nothing that contradicts Trump or Comey.

In then end it will be a big CYA moment for Sessions providing little new information.

Doubt it. IMO he will be buttressing the Trump view of things and the Trump narrative. Telling lies is second nature to this group.

My guess is that Sessions has more loyalty to his political future and the Republican party than to Trump. Therefore, who do everything to protect his political future and the Republican Party and only Trump insofar as it protects himself and the Republican party.

Sounds about right :mad:

This highlights that the U.S.' admirable set of checks and balances only works if the legislative and judicial branches are willing to stand up to the executive branches.

It's clear that at a lower level, the judicial branch is - though it will be interesting to see whether a partisan SCOTUS will continue this or whether will be obstructionist if the executive branch is of the other party and positively encouraging if the executive branch is of the same party.
 
Does anyone seriously believe that when Sessions perjures himself again in congress that there will be any consequences?

Again, he's 70! This is the pinnacle of his career. The GOP ain't nominating no seventy-three-year-old Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, suh! Why would they bother? They've got the redneck bigot vote assured.

Sessions is the evil architect of most of Trump's immigration policy and voter-denial strategy. He and Bannon/Mercers and the Coulter Critter were the worst of the worst in putting together the misanthropic programs that Trump is now infamous for.

Sessions should be asked if Trump maintains audio recordings of his meetings, and demands should be made that any such tapes be released publicly.

Nothing is going to come of this. Sessions and company just want the public forum to call Comey a liar, complain about leaking, and claim executive privilege to refuse to answer anything he doesn't want to.
 
95% chance he's going to stonewall, toe the party line and say nothing else.

5% chance he'll rat because something in Comey's closed testimony means the writing's already on the wall for him.
