Merged The Roy Moore Batcrap Crazy Remark Thread/Roy Moore Is Done

Sounds like a strawman to me. Who is trying to get Republicans on the side of the Democrats? I thought the battle was for the independent or not strongly affiliated.

No, not a straw man at all. There's a particular poster who's made a mini-career of telling us that we're not going to win over Republicans or Trump supporters if we continue to call them deplorable and don't find some middle ground.

It started during the election, in fact, before Hillary's "basket of deplorables" comment. People on these boards were telling us that we were just playing into Trump's hands by referring to their racist supporters as racists and their bigotry enablers as enablers.

What they hope to achieve is to normalize the alt-right, the bigots, the misogynists, the xenophobes. They want us to use nicer words to describe their despicable politics. Sort like some famous guy who said 'bad people on both sides".

No thanks. I've said it recently but it bears repeating.... "deplorable" is a step up for what the paleo right has become.

Who? Note that "Trump supporters" is not exactly equal to "Republicans"

If you consider abortion to be murdering babies, then I guess everything else becomes, if not irrelevant, the lesser of two evils.

Plus, lest we forget, "God works in mysterious ways" so it's OK to molest children, as long as you do god's work in the end.

Course, "The path to hell is paved with good intentions", so no matter how many good deeds a librul does, they're still the devil.

'Had' in that sentence was meant to be past tense.

I was just trying to say the best of plans/systems can still change and/or be thwarted.

Gerrymandering has been a continual problem since the very early 19th century, so when was this mythical time when all was fine and dandy ?

What evidence do you have that the pendulum in the UK is likely to swing in the other direction ?

We have well established bodies in place, with no plans to abolish them whereas the US has now, and has always had, significant problems regarding their election processes.

There was a clip on Radio 4 BBC yesterday Roy Moor saying, 'Remember, God was with us.' What a very unpleasant person.

What the left needs is a charismatic WHITE preacher on their side. Time was, some of the most progressive ideas in America came from activist churches. They weren't always reprehensible bible-thumping bigots. The Jesus guy had a whole lot of lines that play well today in black Christian circles. But we need a huckster who's in it for the results not the cash dividends and who can sell Progressive Christianity to the dupes who've fallen for the bottom feeders in their pulpits who push fear and hatred.

A young Jimmy Carter could've done it. Get out there and testify!

And they always love a scapegoat, so who better than Bannon, Trump and Moore. If it comes from the word of Jeeeee-zusss! they'll lap it up. "And Jeeeee-zuss! spoke yesterday! Turn away from the false prophets of hatred and division. And turn back to my words,.... he said."

I'm not naming names. Perhaps they'll come along and start the spiel again.

And it was based on "You insult Trump supporters and you're insulting all Republicans and they'll turn against you. You need to find common cause with them on the subjects you can agree on. It's the only way you'll ever win them over."

Enough members in this thread have seen the performance art. I paraphrase, of course, but the gist is pretty accurate.

No, I'm afraid that will not work. The pastor of a North Carolina church, who is an actual descendant of the historic Confederate general Robert Lee, appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards this past September locking arms with the mother of the woman killed by a Nazi during the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, and referred to racism as "America's original sin"; afterwards, he was essentially run out of his own church on a rail.

Which is why so many enlightened states have moved to mail-in ballots that can be sent via USPS or dropped into local ballot drop boxes at community centers and other public places.

Something that the heavily red states have actively resisted doing, claiming that it "enables voter fraud". That's their big go-to for nearly any illegal or unethical attempt at voter suppression.

Most of those mail-in voting states are run by Democrats, which is proof that there is voting fraud involved!!
