The Ramaswamy Stratagem

I just heard his "Ukraine Peace Plan". This guy is either a straight up idiot child or he's got some business interest that has him letting Putin give him an altar boy's haircut. According to his dumb ****, Ukraine will give up territory and not join NATO if Russia agrees to end its military relationship with China. The boy is clearly impervious to education. What word has Putin given that he hasn't kept? In a conflict with China, what other than the force we already have pointed at Russia, would keep them on the sidelines? If we're occupied in the Pacific, we would expect Putin's word would keep him out of the Baltic states and Poland?

He's stupid, evil or both.

This was about the time I was seriously considering throwing a shoe at the TV. I thought better of it, it wasn't the TV's fault he was on it a that moment, and punishing it for his presence there would be pointless.
However, were the Swamy to find himself within range, and running his stupid mouth off, I would be very tempted to launch a size twelve projectile his direction with all the fury I could muster.

His ideas for Ukraine are pretty much in line with the kinds of "libertarian" fools who spout their nonsense on the usual outlets. His stance on Taiwan is even worse. Utterly morally bankrupt.

Ramaswamy said, “Do not mess with Taiwan before 2028, before the end of my first term,” when he believes he can achieve semiconductor independence in the U.S.

But “that commitment is only as far as 2028 … and we will not take the risk of war that risks Americans lives after that for some nationalistic dispute between China and Taiwan.”

Ramaswamy said he intends to make his stance clear by dramatically upping the firepower around Taiwan during his first term. This includes moving destroyers and guided missile submarines to the Taiwan Strait, attempting to form a military alliance with India, and even “putting a gun in every Taiwanese household.”

It did not seem to occur to him that China would likely interpret these moves as acts of aggression and respond in kind. Nor does he seem to realize that it’s highly unlikely China would listen to his proposed arrangement. Hewitt pressed Ramaswamy multiple times on his apparent willingness to go to war with China (but just during his first term).

Ramaswamy responded by simply repeating that Xi “should not mess” with Taiwan until the U.S. has achieved semiconductor independence.

2. Remove commercial interests from Taiwan.
3. Shrug shoulders, wash hands, look over there, whistle while walking away.
 
What is quite interesting about these polls is that DeSantis is the most popular non-Trump when all the candidates are taken into account, but if Trump is removed as a choice, DeSantis and Ramaswamy are almost neck-and-neck. In other words, DeSantis is not really the natural no.2 for Trump voters. It looks much more like the crazier die-hard Trumpers are more fond of Ramaswamy.

He's Indian-American. India is hostile to China and favorable to Russia.

His policy is bad for Taiwan. It essentially means an abandonment of Taiwan to China in a few years.

In other words, his policy is good for China with some superficial posturing to make himself look tough.

I am not going to go down the route of assuming that all his beliefs stem from his ethnicity. That's an absurd and frankly fairly racist assumption.

Ramaswamy seems crazier than Trump to me. Really, really hoping that the GOP will ditch Trump and he runs as an independent. Red voters will be split to smithereens with those choices.
 
Smarm is oily, greasy charm. It's a bit too obviously fake to make the charm get all the way to charisma, but it's a strong attempt to overpower through.

Four or five times, Mehdi Hasan asks Ramaswamy what exactly was "downright abhorrent" about what Trump did on Jan 6, and he never gets a proper answer from him.

Here's a very short clip from the same interview. It's about a Soros family scholarship for children of immigrants ($50,000), which Ramaswamy applied for and got even though he was earning several hundred thousand dollars a year at the time:
“There are two big issues with Ramaswamy. One is: what is his qualification to be president of the United States? And the other is: Can we trust anything he says? And those were the two themes I stuck to,” says Mehdi Hasan on his interview with GOP candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

More on topic, I think he's trying to sell scam investment products to the right wing, but is opportunistic enough to take whatever else he gets AND susceptible to falling for his own hype as anyone else.

I hate those interviews when the host can't get a straight answer from the candidate who comes armed with their rehearsed standard campaign spiels.

If Ramalama is vying for a VP slot he doesn't understand much about Trump who would never pick a VP who might upstage him. Trump wants a yes man who idolizes him. Bet he could never find such a perfect VP as Pence in a million years.
