The Ramaswamy Stratagem

People who support Ramaswamy won’t care that he doesn’t stand by his statements that criticized Trump.

Most won’t even hear about it, but those that do will rationalize it or simply not care.

Gone are the days when people voted on principle.

I'm really glad this is only a text-based medium and not audio or video.

What do people think Ramaswamy's grift is? He surely doesn't believe he'll get the nomination. Does he think he can get tapped for VP? Secretary of Treasury? Commerce? Or is he just looking to be an influencer and shill for crypto exchanges?
He is a pharma bro fraudster. Maybe he just wants what all fraudsters like Trump want, validation and adoration.

His attitude also reflects his privileged brahminic sense of superiority and disdain for the "other". A lot of those types in the US, UK and other western countries.

So his religion is to blame for his politics?

His religion is to blame for being a ****.
Being a **** is to blame for his politics.

[ETA] There's a few more layers in between religion and **** involving upbringing and culture, but you get the idea. No one is born a pharma bro, it takes concerted effort to produce something so despicable.

Unfortunately, the lineup of clowns and never-hopers the GOP trots out against an obvious nominee nevertheless creates the illusion of a level of choice Democrats just don't offer.

It's a human weakness that they would rather go to the shop that sells 50 different types of trash instead of the one that one sells the one kind of functional device.

So because he is a Hindu (maybe), he's an ****??

Wow.

So why do you think the man is a complete ass? This will have developed from his family, cultural and religious backgrounds as much as anything so they may all have contributed to his being a horrible human. The same of course is true of terrible Democratic politicians, or indeed politician of any stripe, that is the nature of being human.

It is bigotry to say "Mr A is an ******* jerkoff scumbag because of his Jewish heritage and upbringing".

Could we the same thing about a Catholic or Jewish politicians on the Dem side, or does this game only play for GOPers?

The usual concerns in US politics about Catholics are whether they're automatically against abortion, and for Jews it's whether they're automatically supporting Israel. Neither fear seems to actually come true -- views on both matters align more with the political party of the politician than with their religion: a Catholic Democrat is more likely to support abortion than a non-Catholic Republican, and so forth.

As far what elements in a person's nuture contribute to their personality I don't think it's truly possible to figure that out (there are simply too many variables in play) and also I don't think it's important -- I don't care why Politician X is a raving lunatic, or why Politician Y is an insensitive jerk, or why Politician Z is so stupid, what matters is not putting them into office and mitigating the damage they achieve once they're in. Let their biographers, therapists, and grand juries worry about the background.

Let's leave attacking people's heritage and religion to the enemy. They are much better at it than we are. And we should always hold the moral high ground.

I don't understand this remark. Who is "the enemy"? Do you think I'm taking sides, and that you and I are on the same side? Do you believe you and I have the same morals? Do you think my post was "attacking" anything or anybody? I was relaying my own impressions of what has been a common perception in US politics in my lifetime of the two items you mentioned, my own refutation of those impressions' accuracy, and a general theory that it's not actually possible to figure out what makes people as they are, nor is it actually important to do so.

I was wondering what, if any, religion Ramaswamy practices so I went, of course, to Wikipedia, which says
Ramaswamy is a monotheistic Hindu.[20] According to relatives, he is fluent in Tamil[123][124] and understands (but does not speak) Malayalam.[124] He is a vegetarian.[25][65] In 2020 Ramaswamy called himself an animal rights activist, writing that it is "wrong to kill sentient animals for culinary pleasure."[125]
I'm not sure exactly what a "monotheisitic Hindu" is, but have to wonder how that'll play the fundy Christian base.

Many Hindus that I've met say that they think there is only one god. Or rather, there is a Godhead - Bhratma or some other similar name. All other gods and demigods are just parts of that overall thing.

Kinda like the Christian trinity but with thousands of lesser divisions instead of just three.

That said, I don't know if that sort of concept is what Ramaswamy is referencing. I suspect his description of his religious beliefs varies widely depending upon his audience and whether or not he thinks he's being recorded.
