Patrick inspired me to point out a few facts:
1) The USA is as good as it is by applying secular principles, resulting from its secular creation as a part of the enlightenment movement. This is neither speculation nor guesswork, it's simple, factual history. Those claiming otherwise are engaging in historical revisionism.
2) The USA got where it is today by a repeated, direct application of the scientific method, a descendent of the enlightenment movement, and as a result created a great deal of the technology that makes our lives as good as they are today. Those arguing otherwise can't see the computer in front of them and understand the implications.
3) The USA got where it is today by (mostly, unfortunately) ethical medical experiments that were not interfered with by ancient mythologies. Just look down the road, and think how many of the people you see (assuming you see any) would be there if we didn't have modern medicine.
Now:
a) The repugnican party wants to install religious principles in our government, completely and traitorously countermanding the intent and the wisdom of the founders.
b) The repugnican party supports, panders to, and aids and abets an all-out attack on the scientific method, in many ways from its covert support for the disguised religion that is creationism to direct attacks on scientific research that doesn't show what the politician of the day wants to hear.
c) Based purely on unproven, religious arguments, it has egregiously interferred in medical research, ensuring that our medical technology and understanding in the future will be worse than that of our most deadly enemies.
Therefore:
The republican party of the USA, as it presently stands, is a traitorous organization, every bit as pernacious and hurtful as the alleged acts of the communist party at its worst.
The only difference is that the republican party presently enjoys near-support of the population, and the indifference, stupidity, and unwillingness to vote on the part of the disaffected give this bunch of nation-destroying traitors the power to act.
