The nephilim

Has anyone ever discussed this subject with a Christian literalist?

I've just been curious what their reaction is. I mean, sure, they believe in 900 year old guys. No problem. God can do anything, right? Raise from the dead? Not an issue. Talking snakes? Ok. Devil in disguise. (Not that the Bible actually says that. It just calls that character The Serpent.)

Sons of God who have sex with human females and beget children, before and after the flood.

Somehow, I'll bet that they will change the subject as fast as possible. It's one thing to be miraculous. It's another thing to be creepy.

I think you are probably right - no logical reason why it should be more ridiculous, but it just *is*

Well, this thread has certainly survived the flood---of other threads over the past six years. It must have had its head sticking out above the flood waters in order to be noticed and brought back from the grave like this, 'tis truly a miracle.

I thought that the book of enoch said that the world was smited with the flood (partially) in order to get rid of the nephilim. At least I got the impression that God was very pissed at them for breeding with mortal humans and eating everything in sight so he decided to wipe them out. Am I wrong about this? It might have been some other non-canon book similar to enoch.

Every time I've heard the Ark story, god always punished all the people for whatever sin the preacher was down on* at the time.

*or down with
