The Marjorie Taylor Greene thread.

Lying and cheating are second nature to people like MTG. Making **** up has been her stock in trade. That's why she aligns with people like Trump and Gaetz. So much so that it's a pretty safe bet to expect that, right off the bat, anything she says is probably a lie.

So she claims.

I often find myself wondering which of these right wing losers are actually drinking the conspiratorial flavor-aid, and which are just savvy enough to know you can get the vaccine and lie about it.

Trump got booed a few days ago for telling his flock that he got a booster, so there ya go.

Trump is driven by his ego, and he's too stupid to know when to shut up about something. He needs to take credit for the vaccine even if this will make his cult lose faith in him. In contrast, Greene is just a grasping opportunist who knows when to lie.

They're both liars, but they have different priorities.

Oh well the plot... thins.

GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green owns stock in 3 COVID-19 vaccine makers

The Republican congresswoman reportedly owns stock in Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Johnson&Johnson, all of which make COVID-19 vaccines, and has made income ranging between $201-$1,000 in the stock from each company. Her Pfizer and Johnson&Johnson assets are valued between $15,001 and $50,000 each and AstraZeneca assets are valued between $1,001 and $15,000, according to the Times Free Press.

MTG, as has been previously stated, appears to be nothing but an attention whore. And apparently, any attention is better than no attention. Kind of like a toddler. A few days out of the news cycle will lead her to say anything. What a maroon.

This is quoted from a story listed on MSN from Blavity.

Conspiracy theorist Marjorie Taylor Greene showed her true colors, again, while trying to diminish the meaning of Kwanzaa. Taylor made her latest ignorant statement while responding to a tweet from the College Republicans group, which tweeted "wishing you a happy and prosperous Kwanza."

"Stop. It’s a fake religion created by a psychopath," the conservative said in response to the tweet. "You aren’t bringing in new voters, you are turning them away. People are tired of pandering and BS."

Disparaging other people's celebrations sure doesn't seem like a very good way to bring new people in to grow your political party. But then she doesn't seem to be able to say anything nice about anyone that isn't already a deplorable, in my opinion.

All religions are created, Marge. Or do you think they sprang up independently of humans?

Kwanzaa is a religion?

I wonder if MTG is really this ******* stupid, or if she knows she's wrong but understands that she has to appeal to moronic bigots to have any chance of keeping her office. It's feeling like the former to me.

Nah, she really is that stupid but she also knows she has to appeal to moronic bigots just like her to keep her seat. One does not necessarily exclude the other.

Hadn't heard of it before, but looked it up:

"noun: Kwanzaa
a secular festival observed by many African Americans from 26 December to 1 January as a celebration of their cultural heritage and traditional values."

Can't MTG even use Google?

Hans

Remember though that for her sort "secular" is a culture war cuss word too, and like so many she probably considers the absence of religion a religion.

My own guess is that she really is more stupid than she seems because unlike many who realize it and rue it she cultivates it. Some struggle as they sink while she pulls from below.

Is that First Reformed Secular or California Synod Secular?

"First Reformed Secular"

"First Reformed Secular Northern or First Reformed Secular Southern?"

"First Reformed Secular Northern"

"First Reformed Secular Northern Convention of 1873 or First Reformed Secular Northern Convention of 1912?"

"First Reformed Secular Northern Convention of 1912?"

"First Reformed Secular Northern Convention of 1912 Conservative Rite or First Reformed Secular Northern Convention of 1912 Liberal Rite?"

"First Reformed Secular Northern Convention of 1912 Liberal Rite"

"DIE HEATHEN SCUM!!!"

With a tip o' the hat to Emo Philips.

I suspect she's too narcissistic to actually be religious. She just likes to throw crap at the wall to see what sticks.

I imagine she thinks she is, just as did those Frederick Douglass so eloquently sliced and diced. You have to be standing a bit aside to notice that they are the wall.

Ah....that reminds me of this little blast from the past:

“Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice.”

A wee Jewish guy is visiting friends in Glasgow, Scotland. Walking home one night he sees these two big bruisers coming towards him. "Hey pal!" one of them shouts "Are you a Protestant or a Catholic?" He has heard of the religious troubles in West Scotland so he is very relieved to be able to reply "I am Jewish." The two guys look at him for a moment, then say to him "Aye, but are you a Protestant Jew or a Catholic Jew?"

Religious nuts exist the world over and like MTG are all crazy. Io Saturnalia

At this point, it's not about bringing in new people, it's about hardening their support with the people they already have.

Getting new people would require them to consider taking some new positions, and they've shown they have absolutely zero interest in that.

There's also the punchline, "Well, aren't we just the luckiest Muslims in all Scotland!", although I heard it as Ireland way back when.

...

Which brings up the whole issue of voter disenfranchising, gerrymandering, etc., since they can't win on just their base. Not all of them are as stupid as MTG. They have a way that has worked in the past, and are trying to improve on it. Hence the need to pass the federal voter protection legislation.

True enough, but those also don't need to attract many new people if they can limit the vote to their base. Maybe not as stupid as MTG but that still leaves a lot of room.
