The Loose Change forum

So although it categorically states in no uncertain terms that a husband may beat his errant wife, it's open to human interpretation according to historical and social context? Just like the Bible then.

Therefore both texts are worthless as absolute guides to human behaviour, given the diversity of human situations.

Thou shalt not commit murder (unless it prevents more murder)

Thou shalt not make for yourself an idol (unless it's to decorate a place of worship)

Thou mayest beat thy wife (unless it's taboo in the current social circumstances)

[move to a religion thread please]

Excellent.

Amen!

For all, before the firestorm begins in raucous exchange.

I am a born again Christian, since May 9, 1972. I truly believe all relgion, in toto, is for people afraid of the dark. Early biblical data is as wild as any other belief system. The Catholic church and its boy screwers no different exception and its silly pope crap as well.

Under Grace, in the new testament, the mantra of believing is service to others before self, let the Lord take care of you, afterwards. There is no dictate to kill non believers. There is no 'infidels'.

We do not do car bombs in Sacramento, against factions of Christian followers from Denver. I believe that is not subject to debate.

In turn, and this too is not subject to debate, nothing on this planet is quite like the arcane and inane savagery of nation Islam.

911 is a glaring example. that is what hijacked airliners are for........

Come on, people.......

Robert

Really. So Jim Jones was....? Khoresh? McVeigh? The KKK? Aryan Nations?

If there was no edict to kill non-believers then why have you (Christians) killed so many? Millions of coincidental accidents?

As for arcane and inane, have you looked into the history of christianity? The various witch trials? The Inquisition? Indian schools? The Crusades? The wars surrounding the reformation? The treatment of the Huguenots? I could go on for some time over a 2000 year span before getting in modern political interference.

I have debated this before so I will fill in the answer I encounter most often. Claim that these people are not "real christians", the usual way out for Christians faced with the dilemna of their wildly violent religion. Despite this cherry picking attitude, continue to refer to all muslims in blanket generalizations.

Aren't you lucky there wasn't someone around who decided the christian church had done enough damage in the last 1000 years (as I would have, as you feel about Muslims, I feel about most religions) and put a stop to it.

Have done. Saw nothing that would change my post. Noticed you have dodged the issue repeatedly with anyone who points it out. I guess I simply beat you to the punch with the answer. I will admit that it was pretty obvious that is how you would go from your previous posts.

Put simply, you pick and choose the aspects of christianity you will recognize. Islam you simply blanket with a single judgement.

For that, you should be sorry.

So, I tried to log on to Loose Change today. And it's finally happened. I've been banned.

And what's more, I was making a concerted effort to be polite - I have the screenshots to prove that too, should anybody doubt me.

Does anyone have Dylan's email address so that I can enquire as to why I was banned?

And Oliver - may I finally have that much-coveted badge? And are there bonuses for having stuck around so long without being banned? (I was well into the 200 posts club)

Brothers and Sisters, we are once again gathered here to
bestow upon a fellow forumite, our highest distinction,
the blue badge of Honor and Courage!

A fellow skeptic, Mobyseven has fought the good fight,
and yet has been banned by the quote-miners,
google-searchers, and YouTube-vigilantes.

I say, “Yes” unto him!

Having placed her very sanity at risk,… venturing into the
caves of ig-no-rance and ob-fu-sca-tion… to the land, I say
to you, where fertilizer hangs from the trees like Spanish
moss... to that cistern of non-sequiturs... the land where
no math is known…. Yes! I am speaking of that vile
sanctum of braindead barely post pubescent
white boys..... Loose Change Forum v.2.

Yet, our valiant Mobyseven has returned, perhaps minus
a few brain cells, but nevertheless back to the bosom of
logic and rational thinking.

For your dedication to truth and your steadfast rejection of
[rule8], we bestow upon you the highest honor at JREF/CT

The Blue Badge of Honor and Courage.

Wear it proudly for you have braved the harshest
conditions of sheer stupidity known to man.

Woohoo, the special banner of honor!!!

My username over there was (wait for it!): Mobyseven. I made no qualms about the fact that I posted at JREF, but was always polite and kept my cool. Check my posts if you don't believe me! :p

I can just see them typing about what a hypocrite I am, but ladies I don't consider calling someone gay an insult, those that do are clearly homophobic.
Are you listening dopeyseven? how is the decorating going? or are you sticking to brown in your new home...Gravys colon

An interesting debate tactic - talk to someone who you know has been banned.

Gosh, when I don't reply it MUST mean that he's correct!

Of course it's not an insult he's just making fun of Mark by calling him gay.

Breaktaking pause. So if I have this clear, he doesn't think calling some gay is an insult. Just a degotortory term. Those who are homophopic call people gay and they are homophopic.

People we have entered double think, love is hate, truth are lies, war is peace, and jackchit is an intelligent human being.

Sorry I did not see this post to respond too in a timely fashion.

I am entitled to my opinion based on emperical evidence and performance of same regarding the Q'oran and its followers and tenets.

I am also here to discuss and exchange the issues of 911.

You have your well thought out convictions as well. That also is fair and sound.

Is this a fair answer, being objective to both of us?

RAMS

I would find it fair if you gave a more neutral view of Islam rather than the ethnocentric view you gave earlier. Every religion has its bad aspects. You don't see me saying that Christianity is the worst form of religious thought of all mankind because the bible says that you should kill the non-believers, etc? I would expect the same form of respect from a Christian (Or the religion you make yourself out to be, not 100% sure if you're Christian or not).

Blanket statements create the problems we have right now. Try not to look at something with just one eye.

Killtown is now urging people not to pay their taxes. He has a poll and 55% agree with him, not to pay taxes.

I find it interesting that even with a ridiculously biased "Yes" option:

Yes. I'm going to keep paying my taxes like a good American sheep to help fund 9/11 perps BushCo and the evil war machine.

He still has people voting yes. Might be there's still hope for some of them!
