Due to the genetic lottery, I don't respond to statins. Having been on the highest does for 3 years and LDL stays consistently untouched around 120.
My body sucks at removing the excess, sticky cholesterol and I have the stint, crappy calcium score and CT scans to prove it.
Fortunately for me "Big Pharma" has something that works. PCSK9 inhibitor injected once a month reduced my LDL from 120 to 22 in a couple of months.
Hopefully stopping (maybe reducing) the current arterial buildup, minimizing the need for another invasive procedure or having a heart attack.
