This is because I think she's a joke and that she's played the media and has not done anything I respect.

From a Republican standpoint this is how many people view Obama. Add to that that he's never served in the Military and it takes it to another level.

I can easily understand why an Old Curmudgeon would get rankled over this picture. Marines are considered the best of the best and deserve incredible respect. Even though Obama has every right to ask a Marine to hold his umbrella, he could have had a servant hold it. Asking a Marine to do it is suggesting that this guy is worthy of doing this, and IMO I can't imagine seeing anyone asking a Marine to do something like this without getting a little annoyed.

But it seems like a lot of young people are posting on here who are anti military and don't have that "older respect" for the military. No problem with that, but when I see this picture in someone's anime slide slow with pictures of Darth Vader jokes and clips from Star Wars and My Little Pony comic con conventions, I'm thinking young and clueless.

The older people are offended because we kind of realize by now the great sacrifices that people in the Military generally make for our freedoms. We know people who have lost loved ones, we've seen trauma and injury etc. So there is a certain level of gratitude and respect that I would always give a person in the Military. Has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with respect.

To sum up so far: Obama held a press conference in the pouring rain, and ordered Marines to abandon their posts in Afghanistan protecting orphanages to come and hold umbrellas over special celebrity guests the Kardashians. Someone protested this and Obama had them sent to Guantanamo and made them choose between losing their tongue or their hand. Then Obama made out with Satan on a pile of socialized healthcare money.

Later, he will order them to personally collect every civilian-owned firearm in the nation. Then he will fly to Russia where he and Putin will have unnatural relations with Vladimir Lenin's corpse.

Only after he approves Sharia Law, makes everyone convert to Islam, and bans man/woman marriages while legalizing man/pickup truck marriages.

Taking a look at some historical mudslinging suggests Obama's racist critics may be taking it easy on him. If he were white, his racist critics (as no one ever believes or spreads nonsense about presidents and candidates without hating their skin color) would be accusing him of building a tunnel under the Atlantic Ocean to hold secret meetings with the Pope, eating a dozen native Americans for breakfast and altering the White House lawn to look like boobs (lol at the creativity). And of being secretly black, as opposed to openly black, of course.

I, for one, demand a Congressional investigation to determine the umbrella's country of manufacture. I suspect Mr. Obama will rue the day he first set foot under this great nation's overcast skies.

Okay, the first two are the photographer's framing, nothing to do with the President. The last one is just silliness. Both Bushs' umbrella guard are wearing just as noticeably military clothing.
