There's crap music produced every year, we tend to think older music is better because we've been able to select the best pieces. Current music has all the crap and good music mixed together.

If saying you're as full of it as your parents were when you're parroting their same words (they were talking about your music) is an insult, so is calling all of today's music 'crap'.

for real, i don't get how you can be like oh today's music is crap, i don't listen to it. well, which is it? it's crap, or you don't listen to it.

i would say the path to becoming out of touch is to stop absorbing new things and say you've experienced enough, and i'd recommend that you do listen to new music so you find out that it's not all crap, and that there's probably really great you music you'd love.

Telling me I'm full of crap because I think most of today's music is crap is not the same thing as saying I sound like my parents in the 60's...who I did NOT say were full of crap. Do you think "music" got all butt hurt so insulting me is acceptable?

What is it with some people having to take offense at every little thing? Do you not have enough to really gripe about without having to conjure up things? Jesus Christ, people. Go find something to bitch about that matters.

If your parents weren't full of 'crap' (pgwenthold said 'it') when they said your music was crap, then you aren't full of crap when you say today's music is crap. There's been some good ones that I've added to my favorites list, like Something Just Like This if you like romantic ballad types.

There's research that suggests that people like the music that they were listening to when they were 14 for their entire lives and don't resonate well with what came after that.

Zooterkin's link explains it pretty well. I, too, am over 50 and I like her music. She writes lyrics that are right up there with Dylan and Cohen, and her tunes are catchy and danceable. And she's been doing it for a long time.

While I acknowledge Swift is a hugely talented performer and marketing genius, I admit that I don't know a single one of her songs.

I have heard her music, but don't find it that memorable.
But I watched here Eras tour Documentary on Disney + and she is an incredible performer. I just think she is better singer/performer then she is a song writer.

Wall Street Journal just did a blistering editorial on how bad, morals aside, it would be for the Trump campaign if Vance and Donnie jr make that appreance with Tucker Carlson after his sympathic interview with a freaking Nazi.That they did not drop Tucker like a hot potato shows how messed up the Trump campaign has become.

I haven't listened to modern pop since the 90s, but I attribute that to me, not the music. My 80s collection of mp3s is on the order of 1200 songs, and I have about 300 more from the 70s. I don't need to listen to modern struff.

Rick Beato agrees that most of today's music is crap, written and/or produced by the same three entities. For volume, not for quality.

I definitely recommend Rick's videos on you tube for his glimpses into the modern music industry.

In other words, tell me you haven't lived through the '70s without telling me you haven't lived through the '70s. Or for that matter, the '60s, '80s and '90s.

I mean. Sure it has given us some of the best pop/rock/whatever songs ever, but have you forgotten all the crap that was out there at the same time?

Seriously though, these people have never met a cat person. I don't mean people with cats as pets. I mean CAT PEOPLE.
