Ed The JD Vance thread

It will make a difference, if this is a close race, then it matters more.

I'm saddened by the fact that this could be a close race.Knowing that almost half of the voting public supports the end democracy is depressing.

The only "instruction" was a reminder to register to vote. She shared a tracking link to vote.gov that a spokesperson for that site later said generated over 337,000 visits to the site.

Are we now pretending celebrity endorsements are a new thing? Or is it only bad when it's someone orders of magnitude more popular than Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and Ye put together?

That is true on a pure semantic lavel but get real. that was an endorsment.

That's a strange way to spell, "Oops, I was wrong".

But take a closer look at those taking their (expensive) stadium seats in Melbourne and Sydney. There will be plenty of 40-, 50-, 60-somethings singing along too — and they aren't all there with their kids.

While 45 per cent of Swift's US fans are millennials — like the 34-year-old herself — 21 per cent are Gen X and 25 per cent are Boomers, according to a 2023 survey. That means nearly half of her millions of fans are likely over 45.

While I acknowledge Swift is a hugely talented performer and marketing genius, I admit that I don't know a single one of her songs.

I watched the Eras Tour concert on Disney out of curiosity. I'm mostly a hard/punk rock aficionado but I have to say it was quite the spectacle and entertaining. I think the only song I recognized was "Shake It Off."

I know of that song because it was a plot point on an episode of "The Magicians". One of the characters had the song stuck in his head, which infuriated the character who was a telepath. Later, he used the song to attract the telepath's attention when he had been locked into a magical sleep/dream state.

I'm 70 so I'm stuck in the Oldies But Goodies era. Can't stand the vast majority of crap produced today. Yeah, I know...I sound like my parents in the 60's.

there's lots of good music being made. i guess i've never really felt like i've heard enough music and don't need to hear anymore

(my son's marching band is doing Taylor Swift for their halftime show this year; alas, they have not performed yet, so I don't know the songs. Like you, the only one I know is Shake It Off, but that's because the kids watched Sing on the DVD player on the car many, many times)

A couple of weeks ago, I met a person who was at the concert when they filmed the movie. She says she watched the movie but did not see herself.

Yes, and you are just as full of it as your parents were. So change it. Don't say that today's music is "crap," just say you don't listen to it.

I haven't listened to modern pop since the 90s, but I attribute that to me, not the music. My 80s collection of mp3s is on the order of 1200 songs, and I have about 300 more from the 70s. I don't need to listen to modern struff.

"Old person says modern music is crap."

Let me guess it's too loud and they only use 3 chords?

Taylor Swift is a talented musician. There's loads of great music still being produced. And great POPULAR music.

Yes as we get older music made for younger people doesn't connect with us as much and there's nothing wrong with that, but we can just say that and not have to go "Durrr it's crap because I don't like it."

My goodness. You seem to be personally butt hurt because I think most of today's music is crap. Is there a reason you are insulting me personally when I haven't insulted anyone? Get a grip.
