Yeah but Christian Nationalism is basically a deepstate conspiracy theory that we're supposed to treat differently because "OMG people have religious freedom you can't tell them they are wrong if it part of their religion you're worst than Hitler..."

Steve Bannon left Biosphere 2 after two years, but his departure was marked by an "abuse of process" civil lawsuit filed against Space Biosphere Ventures by the former crew members who had broken in.[70] Leading managers of Biosphere 2 from the original founding group stated both abusive behaviour by Bannon and others, and that the bankers’ actual goal was to destroy the experiment.[71] During a 1996 trial, Bannon testified that he had called one of the plaintiffs, Abigail Alling, a "self-centered, deluded young woman" and a "bimbo".[72] He also testified that when the woman submitted a five-page complaint outlining safety problems at the site, he promised to shove the complaint "down her throat". Bannon attributed this to "hard feelings and broken dreams."[73] At the end of the trial, the court ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and ordered Space Biosphere Ventures to pay them $600,000, but also ordered the plaintiffs to pay the company $40,089 for the damage they had caused.[66]

How many citizens are sympatico with this silly hobo? Undoubtedly more than were on board with a certain herr Schicklgruber less than a year after the latter's first, failed putsch. I'm not suggesting Bannon is equivalent in any direct sense. But as part of the movement led by Cheeto Benito, he has tens of millions of followers.

It's hard to know what anything means when privileged idiots can behave as if the law doesn't apply to them ... and largely get away with it.

I'd expect Bannon to produce nothing useful.

It's pointless. There needs to be civil contempt power here for any of this to have teeth. If Bannon refused to testify in court he could be jailed for contempt until he purged the contempt by testifying.

Other than that there is this vague threat of a future misdemeanor that will put him on the front page again. Win or lose it makes him a hero in the world he cares about.

Just because he's an American Hero doesn't mean he has to be on call 24/7. He needed a break to spend more time with his opioids and cheap liquor.

Because Bannon is a goddamn troll.

So his reaction to everything is to say something to distract us from the thing he's currently doing.

If you catch him with his hand in the cookie jar, he'll crap on the floor. If you'll yell at him for crapping on the floor he'll set the curtains on fair. If you scream at him "Why did you set the curtains on fire!?" he'll rape the dog. So now you've got three crises to fix before getting back to slapping his hand for being in the cookie jar.

He's like all Republicans, 40% of the voting populace, and half this board. His one strategy, his one reaction to everything is to be so wrong that getting even back to the original wrong you were dealing with takes so much time and effort it's demoralizing.
