I'm not that perseverant. I'm just not going to drink something that is foul just because other people do it. After the third time I wanted to puke so I stopped.
Thank you!
I've been able to drink very very sweet drinks, but once I get a little ways in, all I can taste is the alcohol and I can't go anymore. I can count the number of times I've been drunk on one hand, from mildly tipsy to stumbling into walls to literally crying half-naked in my sisters living room (that was probably the worst night of my life, and there's just no enjoyment in it.
Same with cigarettes: there's no gratification in it whatsoever, at least the first time you try it, and its actually rather unpleasant.
The first time I tried cannabis, I was at a friends house. He was a weird guy, he really liked pandas, he had a collection of some 1000s of panda plushies -- wall to wall, floor to cieling, pandas *. I was helping him move from one apartment to another, and I commented that I'd like to try cannabis, he had some, but didn't have anything to smoke with... except a soda can. Yeah... so after all was said and done, I had the very familiar "fishbowl" feeling, but nothing profound. I ate a whole jar of pickled okra.
So, during and after the whole experience, my immediate thought, outside of the total awesome of pickled okra, was "wow, this is overrated, not what I expected at all." It was pretty ok, but not
that good, didn't really justify the whole hype, all the movies, and obsessive stoner culture. Still, it was more pleasant than not, and I didn't feel like I had to lie to myself or be pressured into trying it again.
* Very interesting guy.
