The Gospel

Sorry, but kumar has demonstrated time and again that if you are going to quote a source to support, you'd best have at least taken a quick google about your source.

There is no need for kathy to continue to preach that a cancer patient is to blame for their cancer because of some row with God, but she does. Repeatedly. I count this as at least the 5th or 6th time I have read it.

I didn't take the story to mean that God will send cancer on you if you're atheist. I took it to mean that you have to really love people before the Christian God shows himself to you. Which to me, implies that atheist don't really love people, which I find offensive.

If KK has posted other similar stories about cancer patients who were once atheist converting to Christianity, it may mean she actually thinks God sends cancer to people to get them to appreciate life and love and to get them to become believing Christians.

Ofcourse, to most of us, we see it as once death stares you in the face, the thought of eternal heaven sounds real good and is a great incentive to become Christian.

Didn't work for my one of my best friend's grandfather. Atheist all his life, everyone loved him, was a great and giving man, died in peace.

We don't fight him; we don't believe he exists.

What is so hard to understand about THAT?

Really. Fighting "god" makes as much sense as taking punches at invisible leprechauns. There isn't one single atheist in the world who is "fighting god." Anyone who is "fighting god" must believe in its existence, and therefore is not an atheist.

See here's the thing, she has specifically posted that God uses cancer as a tool to make his love known. She has done this repeatedly. Her message in posting that letter, based on past posts of hers, is easy to read. If you don't believe, you get punished, if you do, all is well even when the cancer kills you.

You might guess why that is offensive to me.

I think it's more about we all need a way to be reconciled with God. It's not about religion but relationship!

Hey FS did you happen to see the 700 club last Friday. Ex Heroin addict/ Muslim accepts Christ and gets set free from false religion and addiction. Incredible testimony, I hope you saw it.

I also enjoyed seeing the ex-stripper who came to faith and now has a ministry trying to reach some of those women still trapped in the terrible trap and lifestyle! She was on last Friday as well.

Whether you guys admit it or not, God changes people and turns lives around. Amazing grace and love!
You don't actually think that any of us would watch that drivel, do you? If I just catch a glimpse of it as I'm scanning through the channels or see a commercial for it on another channel, I want to throw up!

Look, all kinds of people improve their lives. Some of them claim that god or some supernatural force did it for them. Others realize that they did it themselves.

How do you explain why my life is so good and happy when I don't accept Jesus or your god? I have been very happily married for over 25 years, have a good job that I enjoy, travel to fun places and do fun things, have wonderful friends whom I cherish, enjoy excellent health and my life only seems to get better with time. If I had told you I'd accepted Jesus into my life all those years ago when I was poverty-stricken and confused, you'd say that he had done all of these things to make my life so good. Instead I took charge of my own life, sent myself through college and made my life better. All by myself.

"Christianity has done it's utmost to close the circle and declared even doubt to be sin. One is supposed to be cast into belief without reason, by a miracle, and from then on to swim in it as in the brightest and least ambiguous of elements: even a glance towards land, even the thought that one perhaps exists for something else as well as swimming, even the slightest impulse of our amphibious nature - is sin!
And notice that all this means that the foundation of belief and all reflection on it's origin is likewise excluded as sinful. What is wanted are blindness and intoxication and an eternal song over the waves in which reason has drowned." -Nietzsche

Some things never change.

If God is love, then why do so many people fight him?

So this proves that atheist don't love?

KK says God is love. KK says atheist fight God. KK says atheist fight love.

How about this:

"If Nirvana is happiness, then why do so many Christians fight it?"

KK, why do you hate happiness?

Speaking of 700 Club, I watch "Whose Line Is It Anyway" on Family Channel. They then run 700 Club immediately after it. But first they put up a disclaimer disassociating the Family Channel from the 700 Club. Ever since ABC bought out the Family Channel from Pat Robertson, they have been contractually obligated to continue running 700 Club. I imagine ABC probably has a team of lawyers who work on nothing other than coming up with a way to get out of that contract.

I like 700 club. I keep waiting for Pat to heal my lack of faith through the TV screen. Instead, he seems to pick some random/common health problem and then take the credit once those letters arrive in the mail.

I'm amazed how vivid God speaks to him. I wonder what God sounds like, and if he has any accents.

Well I myself always think about the day when I meet God and am asked this one important question. "What did you do with my Son?"

I'd probably say, "I didn't kill him, and I think the poor guy didn't deserve to die anyway."

I'd expect a Christian to say, "I used his death to get rid of my sins"

My turn:
Well I myself always think about the day when I meet God and am asked this one important question. "What did you believe about Me?"

I'd probably say, "I thought you created a fascinating and beautiful universe filled with a wide range existences, experiences, and emotions, and I'm guessing you've probably created a whole lot more and will continue to."

I'd expect a Christian to say, "I thought you created mankind sinful, punished us for our sinfulness, procreated yourself as a human, killed Him/You so that we could bath in His/Your blood and be cleansed, because You think the only way to excuse sin is to killing something innocent. I love You for that!"

Whether you guys admit it or not, God changes people and turns lives around. Amazing grace and love!

HE CERTAINLY DOES!

VERETT, Wash., May 3 - Christopher Turgeon says that when God spoke, he listened. He listened when he was directed to go uninvited to area churches and publicly attack their teachings. He listened when he was told to prophesy a coming Apocalypse. He says he listened when he formed a small religious group called The Gatekeepers, and gathered its members around him, first in Snohomish County and later in Southern California.

Turgeon says he listened when he was commanded to kill. The 37-year-old, who claims to be a modern-day manifestation of the biblical prophet Elijah, went on trial Wednesday in Superior Court, charged with first-degree murder in the March 1998 shooting death of Dan Jess, a Mountlake Terrace man.

KILLERS FOR GOD: THE PHINEAS PRIESTHOOD

David Lethbridge
Their existence was almost unknown until 1991. Unlike most white supremacist organizations, they operate largely in secret. They are devoted to the racist and anti-Semitic religion of Christian Identity. They believe that God, or Yahweh, to use the Old Testament name, created the white people in His own image. They believe that white people are the true Israelites. They believe that people of color were created inferior to white people. They believe that Jews were created by Satan. They believe that the Satanic Jews are taking over the government and are instituting a New World Order. They believe that they have been called by Yahweh to restore God's Law through assassination, bombing, and robbery. They are called the Phineas Priests. They consider themselves God's executioners for race traitors.

On October 23rd, a sniper fired a bullet into the home of Dr. Barnett Slepian, a 52-year old Buffalo, New York obstetrician/gynecologist. Since Slepian was an abortionist, it is suspected that his assassin was some misguided fanatic of the pro-life movement. Supposedly, the founder of a pro-life organization in Virginia has characterized the doctor’s killer as “a hero.” All of this is so senseless; and utterly ungodly.

MURDERERS MUST DIE

God says murderers must die.
That's what He says in the Holy Bible. But most Christians don't hear that anymore. The world doesn't want us to hear that God will kill murderers, so we don't hear it. The world doesn't like to hear about the God that kills people who sin. So we don't listen to God say that. We hear other things the Bible says. Sweet things. Things God says to His children. We don't hear things He says to murderers. Usually.

Except for today.

Today you heard that God will kill murderers like me.

And you. Murderers like you.

If you are not in prison for stopping abortions, you are an accomplice to murder too.

You're 100% absolutely right, Kathy! God DOES change people!

If God is love, then why do so many people fight him?

That's a great question, Kathy!

Maybe he ISN'T love, since so many people fight him.

Maybe he's a real jerk. Maybe he's not there at all.

Sort of like the question "If he loves you, why does he beat you?" Well, that's a great question. Maybe he doesn't really love me! Maybe I should leave his sorry ass!

God, as many people more eloquent than I have pointed out, is a classic abuser, and anybody with a shred of self-respect would dump his "Look what you made me smite!" butt, and take the kids with 'em.

Well I myself always think about the day when I meet God and am asked this one important question. "What did you do with my Son?"

I'd show him one of these:

Firstly, I'd want to know why an omnipotent and omniscient being didn't understand that I was born 2000 years after Jesus.

Secondly I'd want to know why I have to explain anything to an omniscient being. Surely he can read my mind himself?

Thirdly, I would love to know how Kathy knows this is the question that would be asked of her. What if your God asks you "Why were you such a jerk to that skeptic's forum?"

Drivel. nothing more.

Tell you what Kathy, I will later tonight collect every single question you have not answered in this thread. Will you answer them?

Trust me, Fowl. You'll never get an answer.

Real answers require real thought. They require integrity, honesty, courage, and compassion. Kathy has demonstrated time and again that she has none of the above. She is shifty, dishonest, cowardly, and hateful. If she had any of those traits, she'd have answered away, and would not have needed to be reminded. She does not have faith. She has programming.

GIGO. Garbage In, Garbage Out.

Let me get this straight, Kathy quoted a molesting preist as support for her preaching?

Yeah, that's about on par.

Way to go kathy. You're making it easier for us to show you for the idiot you are.

God loves perverts too, you know. Look at the Catholic church. (I always wonder if the pedophile priests, defrocked clergy, etc. really actually believe in the hell they threaten their congregation with....)

Kathy,
In the past, people would sacrifice virgins etc. to rain gods and sun gods... Humans are creatures who evolved to learn via cause and effect. When we don't understand something we make up stories about it--a common story is an invisible god we can barter with...for eons humans have been doing all sorts of crazy things to assorted gods so that rain would come and crops would grow and so bad things like tsunamis wouldn't happen. It made them feel in conrol of something they had no control over.

Religions take advantage of the fact that people feel like souls. Souls are a nice idea...but there is no evidence for them. It seems like we have souls just as sure as the earth seems flat. Both are an illusion. If souls were real, there would be no missing dead people and victims of crimes would be "channeled" in court to tell exactly who killed them and how. And believing you have a soul that can live forever sets you up to be a pawn for all sorts of bunk...so you can save that "soul" from eternal damnation.

But you are alive in a time when we have science. We don't need to kill people to make crops grow. We have the experience and experiments of generations--so we have draught resistant crops, irrigation, etc. No one needs to be sacrificed...there is no rain god...there is no sun god...there is no overlord of the universe...believing in something doesn't make it real--nor does a supposed holy book (there are many you know...none even mention basic scientific concepts like a spherical earth, atoms, dna, germ theory)...
People are really good at fooling themselves. And I suppose this is fine, if it makes you feel good. But science has brought you more miracles than your bible did--the internet? airplanes? cell phones? gps devices? Don't you think that generations past would think of YOU as a god--with all the technology you have and all the basic stuff you know...(earth is spherical, we have (approximately) 9 planets in our solar system, Saturn may have had water on it's surface, the male determines the sex of the baby, we have many of the same genes as a fruit fly--) We don't need the gods anymore. It's superstitious and a legacy of our primative past. You can enjoy and revel in this life instead of trying to win brownie points for the next.

Yes, it's scary...letting go of god...letting go of "souls"...but there is so much true stuff out there to marvel in--so much evidence--so much knowledge has accumulated recently...and it's all available free to anyone who can understand it. Don't let your god make you ignorant.

Soooo .... God gave Tom cancer so Tom would find faith?

What a M**F**er.

When someone is cured from cancer, it's a "miracle from god"--(even though chemotherapy, radiation, and a good oncologist might be more worthy of praise) and when people die it's "god's will"...god is calling tommy home...

So Kurious (not) Kathy,
Should Andrea Yates get sainthood? She killed her kids so they could be spared the chance that they could end up in hell...She sent them off to their eternity a tad early, so they could die before the devil could get to them. Andrea Yates, knew she'd go to hell for killing her kids, but she thought she was going to go there anyway because she was a bad mom (didn't discipline her kids enough) and she wanted to spare the people she loved most the same fate. So did she achieve her goal Kathy? If so, why aren't Christians defending her? I mean, god killed his kid afterall...

Who was god listening to on the 9-11-2001? I'm sure lots of people were praying for planes to land safely. Others were praying that they be successful in their mission to "teach america a lesson"--the latter believed in their god so much they died for fighting for him...

Sappy Hallmark stories don't change the truth. You can love your god and be moved to tears by the whole cross thing--doesn't make it real...even if lots of people believe (lots of people believed the earth was flat at one time...)

Kurious_Kathy, you have come here under false pretenses. You pretend to be curious and you visit this site--where people probe supernatural claims and have a strong interest in the way people fool themselves. This is the James Randi Education Foundation, remember? And then you proceed to preach. So you god has made you a liar. And may people have attempted to share information and knowledge with you, but you can't "compute", because your real mission was to "convert". You are a fraud.

...<snip>... because your real mission was to "convert". You are a fraud.

Hell we called that months ago.

But, I agree with your posts.

Shame about the virgins, though. Damn shame when folks be goin' and throwin away a perfectly good virgin like that...
