The Gospel

Are you saying Newton wasted his time. Then why bring him up?
I'm just questioning things that I think are questionable? Newton's work I am not too familiar with yet..but I think there are boundaries that we need to follow within the guideline of scripture.

3 Near-Death Experiences

The clinical evidence for life after death is subjective and arguable. It's often hard to assess the significance of "out of the body experiences," encounters with bright lights, long tunnels, or angelic guides. It's difficult to know how to respond to those who speak of temporary near-death visions into heaven or hell. What we do know is that there are enough of these kinds of experiences to create a sizable library on the subject. Taken as a whole, this body of evidence shows that as people approach death, many sense they are coming not to the end of existence but to the beginning of another journey.

Problem. Only believing Christians should experience heaven. Also, there is tremendous inconsistency in what is observed and the fact that cultural/religious beliefs seem to help formulate impressions of the afterlife.

And the consistencies that do occur (tunnel, life flashing before eyes) have been shown to be physiologically occurences within the brain.

I won't spam you the details, here's a start:

What exactly are those boundaries?

Well, I'm somewhat familiar with his work, since my job is based in many of his findings (optics) and I appreciate his development of calculus. Any one can question his scientific work, and we have, and we've grown from that experience to learn even more.

Newton had a strong Christian faith all his life, and he might disagree with your view that there is a "guideline of scripture".

Newton saw science as an expression of God, and he wouldn't have considered the Bible any different than nature in that respect.

He understood and appreciated the value of questioning and experimentation. He applied both principles to his scientific endeavours as well as to his spiritual. He was arguably one of the most knowledgable individuals regarding the Bible.

I personally am in favor of this approach as well. The evidence should ultimately lead us to God since He is the Creator and this universe is the creation.

Newton knew nothing of evolution. Newton knew nothing of the photoelectric effect. Newton knew nothing of the Essenes. This was not his fault.

Our understanding of evolution changes the way we view Genesis. Our understanding of quantum mechanics changes our view of the Universal Laws of Motion. Our understanding of the Essenes give a better impression of Jesus' religious views.

We can't look down our noses at past ignorances, only build upon the discoveries of those who rejected ignorance. We universally have great regard for Newton because of this very quality.

And if you are referring to Issac Newton? I don't know much about him. But I do have a question for you if you know his theories? Someone shared that Newton predicted the 2nd coming of Christ would be somewhere between the year 2005 and 2050...have you ever heard this?...
This person was replying to a statement made on another forum discussing the Di Vinci Code....this is mentioned as Browns Error...
Sir Isaac Newton was a secret “Goddess Worshipper”. Yet it is well known that he was a devout Christian …who wrote a commentary on the book of Daniel and Revelation and calculated the physical return of Christ between the years 2000 and 2050

Um...doesn't really look that way KK. It looks like you latched onto something you once heard, kinda, about a Scientist that you could then throw out at a time that you'd actually have to defend an indefensible position.

Teaming with edge is not a good move. You've already seen that our ire is SERIOUSLY raised when people plagiarize, and you're climbing into bed with one. Not a smart move.

To address Newton. He was a brilliant man, more than likely he was also VERY bipolar. He was given to bouts of severe depression, and bouts of intense mania. He had very few friends, and yet was admired for his intellect. He revolutionized, well, everything, yet he was an alchemist. He was a religious nutter of the first degree, but subscribed to Nature's God. (all this was gleaned from James Gleick's book "Newton") The man was a walking contradiction.

Yes, I'm sure you'll agree with Newton greatly. By all means, toss out his ideas about the end times. Newton thought the Trinity was a crock, didn't hold that Christ was God, and was essentially an Arian. He didn't believe that God could intervene in the natural world once He'd created it. I think you'll find his occult studies interesting, too. He was the world's most eminent alchemist, and he had a passion for astrology. Read a little bit of his mystical material somtime. In fact, it's this same mystical-occult material that has all these end time prophesies you've just mentioned as an authority.

Please, could you at least try to conceal your total ignorance once in a while?

My my aren't you the pr#$^!

Did he call someone a prick? Did he elsewhere say "pissed?"
That kind of language doesn't fit in my definition of a good Christian.

In another post, he called someone a fool.
What does the bible say about those who call others "thou fool?"

My truth says people who act in such a manner are poor Christians.

To be fair, he called me a prick, and there's ample evidence for that :D

Though, it is a bit of pot and kettle...

I've smoked pot before but I don't know a kettle comes into it.

What backwoods town are you in? ALL the cool kids kettle their pot for potency.

ETA: Nevermind. you're in some backwoods irish villiage. What do YOU know? ;)

Ah, but that you may be a prick (debatable) is not for HIM to say!
That's judging.

Book of Matthew:

5:22. But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Oh, no! Not HELLFIRE!
